Job interviews can feel like an out of body experience where you find yourself saying phrases you would never usually dream of uttering out loud. Everything can be going swimmingly until you inexplicably spill out that you are "intensely passionate about Excel", leaving you cringing all the way home. And if it's not getting overly excited about spreadsheets, many of us are guilty of overusing buzzwords such as 'dedicated', 'motivated' and 'team player' that hiring companies have heard over and over from job hopefuls. Two managers with plenty of experience on the grilling side of the interview table have now told Seek the five words they don't want to hear from candidates. Jason Walker, director at Hays, and Ian Scott, manager at Randstad Technologies, shared the phrases you should be avoiding. Obviously Aside from sending in your CV, an interview is usually the company's first chance to meet you and learn more about your skills - so don't assume anything is 'obvious'. … [Read more...] about Bosses share the five words that could ruin your chances in a job interview

Harry Potter fans just realised the Chamber of Secrets film has a post-credits scene
When it comes to movies, we all know that if it's made by Marvel, you must stay in your seat until the credits have finished rolling, as there's bound to be a surprise awaiting you at the end. And while this has made us often watch many credits sequences unnecessarily, we don't do it for every film we see. However, a revelation on TikTok has made us think that we should do so from now on. That's because a Harry Potter fan has discovered that the second film in the series, the Chamber of Secrets, has its very own end credits scene. Yes, really. A TikTok user named @perfect.dodge created a video explaining the scene, which has since gone viral, garnering thousands of views. In the clip, he says: "Have you guys noticed this about Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets? "So I'm 27-years-old. I've been watching this movie for almost 20 years, was no one gonna tell me that this is the only Harry Potter movie with a post-credit scene? "Now, in short it is … [Read more...] about Harry Potter fans just realised the Chamber of Secrets film has a post-credits scene
Things parents should NEVER say to their partners because it can damage the kids – including criticising their outfit
KIDS pick up more than we might think. They can hear things that we think are said quietly. They can pick up anger and disagreements between partners, even if we are trying to hide them. They will also feel safer and more secure if their parents are happy and are getting on well with each other. The impact of our parent ’s behaviour can be carried with us forevermore. To help them grow into happy and secure adults, our kids need to understand and feel: Loved - unconditionally, no matter what. Secure - that we are there for them, to protect them when needed. Supported - to be the best version of themselves. Boundaries - to know what acceptable behaviour is and what is not. Growth - to continually develop to be even better. Trust – to be able to predict what we will do and feel safe. Communication – to be listened to and able to express their feelings. Connection – to feel an important part of a family. Commitment – parents are there for them. Fun – to … [Read more...] about Things parents should NEVER say to their partners because it can damage the kids – including criticising their outfit

Expert reveals the shaving mistakes people ALWAYS make – so how many are YOU guilty of?
HAVE you ever given much thought to how you shave your body hair? If not, perhaps now you should, because, according to an expert, we're doing it all wrong. As it turns out most of us don't change the razor blade nearly as often as we should and prepping the skin is absolutely vital - but what does that even mean? A recent study with 2,000 women revealed that 76% of women prioritise their facial skin - often spending half an hour a week looking after it - while fewer than five minutes is spent on the rest of their body. What's more, more than a quarter (28%) also spend at least £20 a month on beauty products for their face, compared with just 7% spending the same amount pampering their legs. But Dr Ewoma Ukeleghe, cosmetic and medical doctor and ambassador for Venus, which commissioned the research reckons the obvious neglect is wreaking havoc on our skin - and it's a mistake most of us are guilty of. She said: "There’s lots of misconceptions around shaving and still a … [Read more...] about Expert reveals the shaving mistakes people ALWAYS make – so how many are YOU guilty of?
