The creator of a series of deepfake Tom Cruise videos says he wants to make people more aware of what they are watching - and that it might not be real. Viewed more than 11 million times, Chris Ume's videos appear to show Cruise playing golf, doing a magic trick, and falling over while telling a story about former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. A deepfake usually involves an image or video in which a person or object is visually or audibly manipulated to say and do something that is fabricated. Most people realised Ume's videos were fake - but the 31-year-old says the speed the technology is advancing could pose problems in future. A CHIPPY in Scotland has started serving up deep fried pickled onions which could be a "game changer" for batter addicts. Amandeep Singh, 38, the owner of the Codfather Fish and Chips, in Cambuslang, south-east Glasgow, decided to batter the onions which are normally served as a side to the traditional meal. The deep fried treats are currently being sold at 50p each, or five for £2 and are also available for delivery, within the chip shop’s area. Mr Singh said he wanted to try something new to deep fry and decided to give the onions a go. Scotland is famous – or infamous, depending on your point of view – for deep frying Mars bars, which are said to have been created by John Davie in the Haven Fish Bar in Stonehaven, near Aberdeen, in 1992.
