Amanda Holden has hit out at the government after they announced they would be giving frontline nurses a one per cent pay rise amid the coronavirus pandemic. The TV and radio personality, 50, shared a series of old photographs of herself in scrubs as she shared a supportive message to frontline medical workers. Amanda wrote: 'We clapped them, we praised them, we thanked them. Now let's bloody show them... the money! B******s to a 1% pay rise!' COVID-19: Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group warns business rates relief cap threatens stores

Mike Ashley's Frasers Group has branded the chancellor's new business rates holiday "near worthless" for larger firms and is an obstacle to it taking on old Debenhams shops. The Sports Direct and House of Fraser owner said the £2m limit on the amount of relief a company can claim means it will have to review all its stores to find any that may no longer be viable, due to the "unrealistic" levy. In his budget on Wednesday Rishi Sunak extended the holiday on business rates, a tax which all shops and pubs must pay, until the end of June. James Arthur lands his first acting role in upcoming film after taking secret lessons during lockdown

JAMES ARTHUR has spent the last eight years dominating the charts – but in 2021 he’s planning to take over the box office too. The British singer-songwriter has revealed he has landed his first acting role in an upcoming film after taking secret acting lessons and auditioning in lockdown. In an exclusive interview, he said: “There’s actually a couple of really exciting projects that I’m involved in and we’re trying to get up and running in terms of my acting. There’s going to be some acting stuff coming up. “I’ve done a few lessons and shot a few casting videos and I’m choosing between a couple of agents at the moment.” James stayed tight-lipped on details of the production, but when asked if shooting would begin this year, he teased: “I think there’s a really good chance that it will, yeah. COVID-19: Public urged to join slow handclap protest as nursing unions being strike discussions over pay row

The public are being urged to join a mass slow handclap in protest at a government recommendation for a 1% pay rise for NHS workers - as unions warn of possible strike action. The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has set up a £35m strike fund that can be used to provide compensation for loss of earnings and campaigning should members decide to down tools. RCN chief executive and general secretary Dame Donna Kinnair condemned health minster Nadine Dorries' claim that 1% was "the most" the government could afford , calling it "pitiful and bitterly disappointing".
