Meat prices WON’T rise as Boris Johnson rules out tax hikes for Sun readers under his green agenda

· March 1, 2021 ·

BORIS Johnson has vowed his green agenda will not lead to any new tax rises for hardworking Brits. Speaking exclusively to The Sun the Prime Minister said this year’s Cop26 summit will not hit readers' wallets with new levies on meat or carbon  - but instead “generate high quality, high skill, high wage jobs.” The PM wants the UK to be carbon neutral by 2050 to meet his eco-goals - but has yet to unveil a detailed plan to make it happen. Ministers are drawing up eco plans to bring to the table ahead of the UK hosting the UN's big climate change summit in Glasgow later this year. But there are fears that polluting taxes - currently only aimed at heavy industry, huge power generators and gas-guzzling airlines - will be extended to other parts of the economy that aren't eco-friendly too. Last month Downing Street distanced the PM from Whitehall plans for a meat tax - after MPs and experts rounded on the barmy plans. The row was sparked after Treasury ordered … [Read more...] about Meat prices WON’T rise as Boris Johnson rules out tax hikes for Sun readers under his green agenda

CPAC – Donald Trump brags he ‘may decide to beat Democrats for a THIRD time’ in wild speech

· March 1, 2021 ·

DONALD Trump was met with huge applause when he walked out on stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in his first appearance since leaving office. Walking out to 'God Bless the USA,' the CPAC crowd went wild for the former president and then chanted "USA" after the song ended. "Do you miss me yet," Trump asked the crowd as they cheered. "In just one short month, we've gone from America first to America last." "But who knows, I might even decided to beat them for a third time," Trump added as people gave him a standing ovation and began hugging the other. "A Republican will make a triumphant return to the White House and I wonder who that will be," Trump said. "Our brightest days are just ahead." Trump continued down, tiptoeing whether he might run in 2024. "The incredible journey that we've begun together," he said, "And it's far from being over." "Our work is just getting started and in the end, we will win," he said to a roaring … [Read more...] about CPAC – Donald Trump brags he ‘may decide to beat Democrats for a THIRD time’ in wild speech

Almost every adult in England and Wales could receive ‘£750 share of £34BILLION claim against Experian’

· March 1, 2021 ·

ALMOST every adult in England and Wales could receive a £750 share of a huge £34billion claim against Experian, it's reported. The credit firm is being sued in a landmark High Court case that could see millions claim from a damages pot. The company holds information on some 46million individuals - but it's accused of mis-selling data and building potentially inaccurate profiles, the Mail on Sunday reports. On Friday, lawyer Liz Williams, who lives in north Dorset, filed a writ at the High Court for £750. But the action could cripple the company. It accuses Experian of collecting data on Brits from a range of sources, including online questionnaires, the UK census and the electoral roll. The data is then allegedly sold on for commercial gain. Last October, the Information Commissioner's Office found Experian was selling data onto third parties - including political groups - without their consent. It set out a range of penalties, and the company can be fined … [Read more...] about Almost every adult in England and Wales could receive ‘£750 share of £34BILLION claim against Experian’

Lockdown roadmap should be sped up if things are going well, top expert declares

· February 28, 2021 ·

Boris Johnson's roadmap out of lockdown in England should be sped up if things are going well, a top expert claimed today. The Prime Minister has ruled out bringing forward the dates of his four-stage roadmap which pledges to lift all lockdown rules by June 21 at the earliest. But he should change his mind if the vaccine rollout curbs the virus faster than expected, said Paul Johnson, director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies. The independent think tank is a leading authority on the Budget which will be announced next week. IFS boss Mr Johnson told Sky News' Sophy Ridge on Sunday: "I think it’s very clear that if things move more quickly, more positively than expected, if we have a very high fraction of people vaccinated and very low levels of infection, then yes it should be sped up. "There’s no need to stick to a date if things go better than expected. "Every month, every week of additional lockdown is costing not just the economy, it’s costing so many people so much … [Read more...] about Lockdown roadmap should be sped up if things are going well, top expert declares
