Big Tom McBride was a huge star in the 60s and 70s, filling ballrooms and becoming known as The King of Ireland’s thriving scene. His career spanned more than five decades, culminating in his induction into the Irish Country Music Awards Hall of Fame in June 2016. Mr Varadkar said: “I was very saddened to hear of the death of Big Tom this morning. “Big Tom was certainly a giant in Irish country music for over 50 years.” With his band the Mainliners, McBride filled dance halls the length and breadth of the country. Oasis song Live Forever has been voted the greatest British song by Radio X listeners. The band knocked Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody off the top spot in the radio station's Best of British Top 100 chart, which is now in its third year. The third single from their 1994 debut Definitely Maybe, the track was their first top 10 hit and remains a firm favourite in Liam Gallagher's live sets, including his One Love Manchester duet with Chris Martin. Don't Look Back in Anger, which was adopted as an anthem of defiance after the Manchester Arena attack last May, was close behind at number 3. Oasis were Radio X listeners' favourite band this year, dominating the Top 100 with 16 entries - three more than last year, and more than any other act.
