A Hawke's Bay Elton John fan has been scammed of $800 after paying for five tickets for one of his Mission Estate shows next February. The victim, Grace, said she was annoyed that she fell for the scam, losing $800 along the way. She was one of thousands who missed out when tickets went on sale on Mission Estate's site. So she posted on its Facebook page asking if anyone had any tickets to spare. That's when the scammer who, according to the profile he used, went by the name "John Bernard", messaged her a week later and said he had tickets available. "He said he had five tickets to sell because he wasn't going to be able to make it to the show," Grace said. "I'm always careful so I looked him up and he seemed legit. He had heaps of friends and what looked like a real page, and he sent through a confirmation email of buying the tickets and I showed it to my husband and some other people and it all seemed in order." She had said she'd be back for a special show and now it's confirmed Ariana Grande will headline the Sunday of Manchester Pride 2019. The performance at the annual LGBTQ+ festival will be her first in Manchester since the One Love concert held in the wake of the terror attack at her Manchester Arena show in 2017. The singer will be joined by British synth-pop band Years and Years, 80s duo Bananarama, and pop star Pixie Lott over the August bank holiday weekend at Mayfield Depot. Mayfield Depot, just across the road from Piccadilly Station is the new home of Pride for 2019 as the huge vent moves away from Canal Street for the first time. Hartlepool Male Voice Choir will celebrate six decades of entertaining the town and beyond this year. This year marks the diamond anniversary of the men’s choir which started after a professional musician overheard a group of rugby players singing. To mark the occasion, the choir will stage another of their popular celebrity concerts featuring special guest Joe McElderry of X Factor fame.Tickets for the concert at the Borough Hall on Saturday, June 15, are now on general sale. ALCESTER Male Voice Choir is celebrating its 45th anniversary with a special concert in a special venue – Worcester Cathedral. The concert, on Saturday, May 11, will be on the theme of ‘Music for Everyone’ reflected in the programme put together by choir founder and Director of Music Judith Land BEM. Songs will include This is the Moment, Land of Music, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Zum Sanctus, I’m Goin Up Yonder, Tell My Father, World in Union, Hey Jude, Fly me to the Moon, Beyond the Blue Horizon, Benedictus and many others. The choir will be supported on stage by a host of talent, including principle accompanist Elliott Rooney. Christopher Allsop on organ, soprano Sara de Visser, Epsie Thompson on flute and Lizzie Parkes on guitar.
