A Bristol-based playground equipment builder is turning children’s ideas into designs for a new play area in South Gloucestershire. Touchwood Play is creating a playground at Beesmoor Road playing field in Frampton Cotterell using designs thought up by youngsters. Local residents took part in a ‘Design for Real’ day with the business, which encouraged the children to explore ideas for the type of play features they would like in the new scheme. The workshop resulted in the production of a masterplan for the play area, which will be introduced in four phases to allow for further fund raising. Touchwood Play is using many of the ideas that were suggested by the children and is now building a series of bespoke play features. These include, two wooden watchtowers linked via a bridge, scramble nets, slides, swings and a firefighter’s pole. Pub company giant Marston's is scaling back expansion plans to address net debts of £1.4 billion as the economic uncertainty of Brexit looms large. The pub company arm of the famous Burton brewer is set to reduce its investment in new-build pubs to around £25 million from 2020. It comes as the firm, which has pubs across East Staffordshire and the West Midlands, turns its focus to reducing net debt by £200 million in the next four years. A total of £90 million of non-core assets will also be disposed of as the company, whose HQ is now in Wolverhampton, looks to improve cash flow and focus on establishment that include accomodation. The stats were announced as part of Marston's January trading update, covering the 16 weeks up to January 19. This is according to a report from consulting firm PwC, commissioned by the Irish Offshore Operators' Association (IOOA). A single oil find could create up to 1,200 jobs annually and provide revenue of up to €8.5bn in corporation tax. Meanwhile, a single gas find could create up to 380 jobs a year, providing revenue of €2.4bn in corporation tax over the production periods. The report claims the development of indigenous oil and gas resources in Ireland would deliver some carbon emissions benefits as well as security of supply. Gas in electricity generation is 67pc less carbon-intensive than peat and 61pc less intensive than coal. Oil is also 33pc less carbon-intensive than peat and 20pc less than coal. As Brexit looms, Ireland's energy security remains vulnerable, with 100pc of all of our oil, and 31pc of all our gas imported, primarily through the UK.
