Pokemon fans are in for a treat as a special event makes a return to Gateshead this weekend with a whole new set of challenges. A group set up for North East fans of the Pokemon Go game hosts monthly get-togethers at Saltwell Park which are proving a hit with families. And its latest Pokemon Go Community Day will take place this Saturday, May 19, with hundreds of players of all ages set to attend - all in a good cause. The event will be raising funds for the Great Ormond Street Hospital so players can be helping the charity while indulging thir love of Pokemon. Here is everything you need to know about this unique day. When is Pokemon Go Community Day in the UK? All players need to do to take part is to show up at a popular location during the three hour window, The next one is on Saturday, May 19 and it’s been confirmed that the special Pokemon will be Charmander. The timings for these will run from 10am to 1pm GMT. The June Community Day event is set to take place on Saturday, June 16 and the July event is scheduled for Sunday, July 8. A college’s first community event could pave the way for more activities for youngsters and families in the future. West Suffolk College hosted its inaugural community day on Saturday, offering science, health and artistic activities.Lego, robots, penny cleaning,yoga, English and maths revision and vocal workshops were on the timetable, with sessions aimed at youngsters aged three-16.A table tennis competition and ‘orchestra jam’ were popular, while Suffolk Mind ran a ‘sleep well, learn well’ workshop.Parents were also invited to get in on the act, with a session on understanding their child’s education system.Angela Smith, executive director of Learner Partnerships, which organised the event, said there was a great atmosphere on the day.“We had little ones doing yoga, people singing, youngsters making Easter cards, virtual reality games, science activities and people putting their voices on a video game,” she said.“This was our … [Read more...] about ‘Great’ feedback for first college community day
The Garioch Sports Centre, Inverurie Loco Works FC and Aberdeen FC Community Trust will host the annual Inverurie Community Day at Harlaw Park this Saturday (March 24). The Community Day raises awareness of the ‘Garioch Partnership’ that has grown from strength to strength over the past two years and has seen over 2,500 people aged from 3 to over 90-years-old participate in a variety of activities.Since its inception in 2016, the partnership has organised a number of community activities, including a Walking for Wellness group with Fitbit device trackers, the first Over 65s sport and social activities event - the ‘Garioch Games’, Walking Football, Syrian refugee football sessions, Healthy Lifestyle Change programme ‘Football Fans in Training’ and more.This will continue to grow as the partnership continues to go from strength to strength.
