Pink Ladies have teamed up with Cancer Focus NI to offer a community based bra fitting service across the North West. The service will officially be launched in January across all of the outreach facilities in Derry, plus five new locations - Limavady, Eglinton, Strabane, Donemana and Castlederg. Speaking to the ‘Journal’, Maureen Collins of the Pink Ladies said: “For us, historically, the Pink Ladies were set up to bring services into the community, that people know exist in a hospital setting, but might not want to go to the hospital. “The other thing about it is affordability and the cost of some of the stuff needed.”Maureen said that Pink Ladies staff had previously been trained in bra fitting for the Bogside and Brandywell area, but due to budget restraints and austerity, they weren’t able to continue the service. Royston carers invited to learn about new support service

Picture: Archant Archant Carers in Royston and surrounding villages will soon have the benefit of a new support service, thanks to lottery funding. Charity Carers in Hertfordshire is to launch the Carer Support Hub at Royston Town Hall and the group is the last being launched as part of a lottery funded project.Unpaid carers – someone looking after a relative, friend or neighbour that is elderly, ill or disabled – are invited to an information and support event to find out what help is available for them and how they could get involved in a hub.At the session, carers will be able to enjoy a gentle, chair based yoga and relaxation session led by a yoga teacher. Last but far from least in our list of inspirational individuals comes Derby and Derbyshire business support professionals and miscellaneous entrepreneurs. They include business coaches, marketeers, celebrated auctioneer Charles Hanson and leaders of health-related businesses such as Central Health Network and Milford Care. We even have a couple of inspirational vets who have built highly successful enterprises. Also listed is Margaret Miles-Bramwell whose Alfreton-based Slimming World business has helped inspire many thousands of people to lose weight, inarguably one of the county's most inspirational figures. She started out by borrowing £200 from a friend. Slimming World is now a multi-million-pound enterprise and employs hundreds of people and has a network of 4,800 slimming consultants. Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS), which supports the older population in the town and surrounding areas, has seen a drop in volunteer numbers from 256 to 170 since the end of last year.And due to this decline, TASS has had to close some classes and groups on several occasions.Diane Newman, TASS’ manager, said: ‘TASS relies heavily on volunteers to deliver all of its services and our bank of volunteers is depleting given the age group.
