I’m writing this on a train, on the way to my radiotherapy appointment. It’s the end of week three of 4.5 weeks of the treatment, following surgery earlier this summer for breast cancer. I attend the hospital each weekday for radiotherapy: it’s a round journey of about two hours, and my session under the radiotherapy machine takes about half an hour. So, not allowing for waiting time, at least 2.5 hours of every day are currently given over to my treatment.
