Kim Kardashian slammed for losing 16 lbs in 3 weeks for Met Gala
Kim Kardashian is facing backlash for revealing she lost 16 lbs in three weeks in order to fit into Marilyn Monroe's "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" dress for the Met Gala. The reality TV star, 41, truly stole the show at the 2022 Met Gala when she walked the red carpet in a literal piece of history . The iconic gown was famously worn by Monroe in 1962, the same year she died, when she serenaded the then-president. Created from a sketch by Bob Mackie for costume designer Jean Louis, the nude-colored crystal-embellished dress was won at auction in 2016 by the Ripley's Believe It or Not museum who loaned it to Kardashian for the Met Gala. The dress had been stored in a temperature-controlled vault and went for almost $5 million at auction. One catch to Kardashian being loaned such a valuable garment, however, is that no alterations could be made. The SKIMS founder revealed that she tried on a replica months ago which fit but when she tried the real one on, it didn't fit. … [Read more...] about Kim Kardashian slammed for losing 16 lbs in 3 weeks for Met Gala
Ruthless and unorthodox coach switch by Emma Raducanu and her dad can pay dividends
If Emma Raducanu and her father Ian have a reputation for being hard-headed about coaches, Tuesday’s announcement did little to dispel it . Torben Beltz became the latest man to follow Nigel Sears and Andrew Richardson out of the revolving door, all in the space of nine months. But perhaps, in Riccardo Piatti, this exacting family have at last found an expert they all admire. Telegraph Sport understands that Piatti – a 63-year-old Italian – has emerged as the likely linchpin in the “new model” that Raducanu floated on Tuesday morning. Exactly how his role will be defined remains unclear, but the idea is that he will spend a limited number of weeks on the team, while also sending coaches across to work with her at the National Tennis Academy in south-west London when she is not attending a tournament. If Piatti has a weakness, it is his English, which is not especially fluent. But then he has an enormous cast of allies at his academy on the Italian Riviera – 16 more coaches, … [Read more...] about Ruthless and unorthodox coach switch by Emma Raducanu and her dad can pay dividends
Investigation launched after woman claims police were involved in child abuse in Glasgow
Police in Scotland say they are investigating allegations that two of their own officers were involved in a child abuse ring in Glasgow in 2014. It comes after Sky News investigated organised sexual abuse in the city and spoke to one young woman who claimed she had recognised an officer who sexually abused her as a child because he was the same man who sometimes picked her up and took her home after she went missing. Data examined by Sky News also show a huge gulf between the number of children referred for help as victims of modern slavery, compared to the number of attempted prosecutions for the crime. Toni Louise, now 22, has waived her anonymity to tell her story. She says she was groomed and sold for sex by a man she thought was her boyfriend. Advertisement The first time he told her to have sex with another man she was 12 years old. She said: "One day he was like 'I need you to do something for me. And well you don't really have a choice in … [Read more...] about Investigation launched after woman claims police were involved in child abuse in Glasgow

Monday morning news briefing: PM attacks EU on cost of living
After weeks of speculation, Boris Johnson is preparing to approve a law scrapping key parts of the Northern Ireland Protocol. One of the Prime Minister's key arguments is that the agreement is holding back Westminster from helping with the cost of living crisis . Mr Johnson will travel to Belfast today for talks with political leaders and is expected to sign off plans later this week for domestic legislation giving the Government the right to suspend elements of the Brexit deal. In an article ahead of his visit, he argues that the Protocol is "restricting" his ability to help with the province's "post-Covid recovery" and holding back growth. He notes that a UK-wide VAT cut on renewable energy products cannot be implemented in Northern Ireland due to the Protocol. Political editor Ben Riley-Smith says the move comes despite warnings it could collapse talks and cause a trade war with the EU . Meanwhile, Andrew Griffith, director of the No 10 Policy Unit, today argues … [Read more...] about Monday morning news briefing: PM attacks EU on cost of living
