A MUM-of-thee who wears her PJs on the school run said people often call her "disgusting" and "dirty" and automatically assume she's a lazy mum who doesn't work. People were "outraged" when Jodie Palmer, 34, posed in her nightwear on the way to school before sharing the snap online. The post sparked a heated debate with thousands of comments from strangers who called her "lazy," "disgusting" and even "dirty." But she claims the only people who should be ashamed are those judging her - and she doesn't can what people think. The mum hit back at those who flooded her page with abuse saying that wearing her pyjamas to school doesn’t make her a bad mum, but in fact a good mum. The full time, self employed mum said: “Yes, I am pyjama mum and yes, I dropped my children at school in my pyjamas and unbrushed hair. “I am not a bad mum because I wore my pyjamas – I wore my pyjamas because I’m trying to be a good one.” Jodie explained that after a rough night with her one … [Read more...] about I get called disgusting and dirty for wearing my PJs on the school run, people assume I’m lazy but I don’t care

"My child is not a lab rat." The words are from a 25-year-old woman, Susan, and they're in reference to her three-year-old twin girls. While she speaks to DW, her eyes flicker between them as they begin to meander away — first together, then in different directions — in a large, open park in Bonn, Germany. "It just hasn't been tested enough," Susan insists. "A few months [of testing]? That isn't safe." So no, she says. Her kids are not getting vaccinated against COVID-19. And she isn't, either. Her husband had to, and she didn't like that. At a nearby playground, another mother, who does not want to share her name, feels very differently. "I'd vaccinate them. If it were allowed, or doable, then definitely." Her 12-year-old daughter, she says, has had two different kids in her classroom get COVID-19. That led to a two-week quarantine — each time. "That's where you realize it affects them too." At some point in the coming weeks, the European Medicines Agency is expected to … [Read more...] about COVID: How many parents will actually vaccinate their kids?
Boris Johnson has faced claims that he ignored scientific advice in the run-up to imposing a third national lockdown in England. The prime minister has instructed people to "stay at home" following the surge in coronavirus infections, closing all non-essential shops and ordering schools to move to remote learning. A scientific adviser to the government has said the latest shutdown was "inevitable" after Christmas Day mixing was allowed and a new, more transmissible variant of the virus was identified. But what did experts tell the government behind the scenes in the days and weeks before lockdown was announced, and have ministers been "following the science" as they have repeatedly claimed? GOOD Morning Britain’s Laura Tobin has revealed Piers Morgan tried to give her breastfeeding advice after the birth of her premature baby daughter. The meteorologist was taken to hospital at just under 28 weeks pregnant on July 25, 2017, having gone into labour after turning up at ITV’s London studios to do the weather forecast. Her daughter Charlotte, three, was born hours later weighing just 2lb 8oz and spent 83 days in hospital before coming home to Berkshire with Laura, now 39, and husband Dean Brown. In a chat with Fabulous, in partnership with Ickle Pickles charity, the mum-of-one says: “Everyone from GMB was so lovely, sending loads of messages and baby clothes, seeing if we needed anything. “Piers was hilarious when I brought Charlotte home. He’d texted me and said ‘phone me when you get out of hospital’ so I FaceTimed him and showed him Charlotte. “He started going ‘now, something about breastfeeding’. Celia (Walden, Piers’ wife) said ‘you can’t give her … [Read more...] about GMB’s Laura Tobin reveals dad-of-four Piers Morgan tried to give her BREASTFEEDING advice after premature baby’s birth
Dozens of armed groups have operated for years in the Democratic Republic of Congo's (DRC) North Kivu and Ituri provinces, and civilians have been subjected to horrifying massacres. Armed militias and inter-communal violence have killed more than 300 people so far in 2021. Presidential spokesman Tharsice Kasongo Mwema said on Tuesday that the two provinces would be declared under siege for 30 days starting on Thursday May 6. "To respond to the situation during the state of siege, the provincial governments of Ituri and North Kivu ... will be replaced by offices of the armed forces of the DRC or the national police," he said. Security and judicial vacuum It was the first time since the Democratic Republic of Congo's independence that a president used the exceptional "state of siege" or state of emergency. President Felix Tshisekedi said he wanted to eliminate insecurity in the two provinces, where the Congolese government has failed to enforce the rule of law.
