Considering the importance of the Electoral College system in American politics and elections, it's remarkable that not everyone—in fact far from everyone—understands it. When U.S. voters select a president, they vote for a slate of electors in each state. The winning slate casts its votes in the Electoral College to pick the president. The Electoral College has 538 electors, from all the states and the District of Columbia. The winning candidate needs a majority of 270 or more. States get the same number of electors as they have members of Congress—one for each senator and each member of the House—so they have a minimum of three. States with bigger populations have more electoral votes, but the Electoral College system does not represent each voter equally. If the electoral votes were divided up by population , for example, each one would represent about 607,000 people. But under the current system, an electoral vote in Wyoming represents about 193,000 people, while in … [Read more...] about States where individual voters have the most impact on the Electoral College

Será realmente bastante excitante ver estes helicópteros a explorar Marte no futuro". [Read more...] about Ingenuity faz história ao realizar o primeiro voo em Marte
Gabby Agbonlahor shuns Salah and De Bruyne with shock pick for Player of the Season
Former Aston Villa star Gabby Agbonlahor striker has shunned favourites Mo Salah and Kevin de Bruyne to win the Premier League Player of the Season by naming a surprise pick. With the top flight coming to a dramatic conclusion, as well as a title and a relegation spot to be decided, there is the small matter of the Player of the Season award. Having played a key role in their respective title races, Manchester City's De Bruyne and Liverpool's Salah are the two front runners. Team-mates Phil Foden and Virgil van Dijk have also been in the conversation recently. But Agbonlahor reckons there is another name who should be in the running: Son Heung-min. The Tottenham forward is second in the Premier League scoring charts after a fine run of form to put Spurs in contention to reach the top four. Michael Owen’s Premier League final day predictions including title race and relegation battle
Michael Owen has made his predictions for the final day of the Premier League season as Manchester City and Liverpool battle for the title and Leeds United and Burnley bid to avoid relegation. The English top-flight is set for a tense finale as title rivals Man City and Liverpool go into the last round of fixtures separated by just one point. Victory for Manchester City against Aston Villa would see Pep Guardiola ’s side win their fourth title in five years, but a slip-up would open the door to Liverpool, providing they beat Wolves. Leeds United will join Watford and Norwich City in the Championship next season if they lose to Brentford but a win or a draw will pull Burnley into the drop zone unless the Clarets pick up points against Newcastle United. The top-four battle is technically still alive but fifth-placed Arsenal need to beat Everton and hope north London rivals Tottenham lose to bottom-placed Norwich to sneak into fourth. Elsewhere, Manchester … [Read more...] about Michael Owen’s Premier League final day predictions including title race and relegation battle

Brain damage test can predict if unconscious patients will ever wake up
Family members of brain damaged patients may no longer have to endure anxious waits to see if their loved ones will regain consciousness after scientists developed a test to predict who will wake up. Yale researchers discovered that measuring how much glucose (sugar) the brain uses is a good indicator of how much damage has been done, and whether a patient will recover awareness within a year. Currently there is no way of telling how long it will take for someone with brain damage to regain consciousness, and families are often forced to take the heartbreaking decision of switching off life support systems. Keeping someone on life support indefinitely is also expensive, costing up to £2,000 a day. The new test can predict with 94 per cent accuracy if a patient will wake up however there are likely to be ethical concerns as the test would not work for a small number of people meaning families could make the wrong decision on switching off life support. "In nearly all cases, … [Read more...] about Brain damage test can predict if unconscious patients will ever wake up
Hollyoaks fans predict Sienna will destroy Summer and Brody with Cormac bombshell
Hollyoaks viewers are convinced that Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) will destroy love rival Summer Ranger (Rhiannon Clements) by telling her that Brody Hudson (Adam Woodward) left her father for dead. Siennna and Brody's engagement party was ruined last week when a photo of Sienna kissing her ex Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) was leaked on social media. During Monday's first-look episode, Sienna tried to blame the leak on Summer when she crashed the party aftermath. She was determined to make things right with Brody, but she first ran across Warren, and he admitted he'd been the one to post their photo on social media. "You might love Brody, but you want me," he said. Still intent on fixing things with Brody, Sienna rushed to their flat — where Brody was completely uninterested in giving their relationship another shot. "I need a life free of drama, a life free of you," he insisted, telling her: "I hate what you've done to us." As Brody walked away from Sienna, viewers rushed to … [Read more...] about Hollyoaks fans predict Sienna will destroy Summer and Brody with Cormac bombshell

One in four Republicans approve of Kamala Harris pick: Poll
More than half of Americans approve of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's choice of running mate, California Sen. Kamala Harris, including a quarter of Republicans, a new poll has revealed. The ABC News/Washington Post survey found 54 percent of Americans approve of Biden's pick for the 2020 Democratic ticket while only 29 percent disapprove. Seventeen percent of the 1,001 adults surveyed said they had no opinion. While the reaction to Biden's pick was broadly positive, the margin is narrower among those who have strong opinions. Thirty-four percent of Americans said they strongly approve of her selection, while 22 percent strongly disapprove. Among Democrats, an overwhelming majority—86 percent—approve of Harris as the vice-presidential nominee, while only 8 percent disapprove. Disapproval among Republicans is unsurprisingly higher at 55 percent, but notably, one in four Republicans (25 percent) approve of Biden's choice of running mate. But among … [Read more...] about One in four Republicans approve of Kamala Harris pick: Poll
