Amazon set to open first checkout-free physical stores in the UK ‘this week’
AMAZON is set to open its first physical stores in the UK - and they won't have any checkouts. The online retailer will open the doors to its Amazon Go shops 'this week', after success in the US. The first shop will be located in Ealing in West London, the Mail on Sunday reports. There are no checkouts at Amazon Go stores, instead technology tracks the items you put in your basket. You're charged automatically when you leave via the Amazon Go app. The concept first launched in the US in 2018 and it was first reported last year that the shopping giant was eyeing as many as 30 locations in the UK for bricks and mortar stores . According to the newspaper report, staff are preparing to open the shop this week and there are coverings hiding the Amazon branded store front. The shops use "Just Walk Out" technology which means customers can avoid queueing. Shoppers must scan the supermarket's app on the gated turnstile when entering the stores. Budget 2021: Price of cigarettes to rise as Rishi Sunak mulls tobacco tax hike
CHANCELLOR Rishi Sunak will announce tax rises in his Budget on Wednesday. Tobacco tax is expected to increase, pushing up the price of a packet of cigarettes. This tax increase would bring in £30million, according to estimates published by HMRC. Mr Sunak will be looking for ways to cover the cost of coronavirus support schemes which are expected to be extended in his Budget. Will the price of cigarettes go up? Tobacco tax and other so-called 'sin' taxes are usually increased every year, though Mr Sunak froze alcohol duty for only the second time in 20 years in last year's budget . Smokers were not so lucky and during the Budget in March 2020, the Chancellor pushed the price of cigarettes up by 27p for a pack of 20 fags. Mr Sunak hiked the price by an extra 2% above the current inflation rate of 1.8%. The change pushed the average pack of the most expensive cigarettes from £12.46 to £12.73. The average pack of the cheapest 20-pack of fags rose from … [Read more...] about Budget 2021: Price of cigarettes to rise as Rishi Sunak mulls tobacco tax hike

Tottenham 4 Burnley 0: Gareth Bale back to his best with two goals as Kane and Moura sink sorry Clarets
WELCOME back Gareth, you have been away for far too long. Some 162 days after his return from Real Madrid, Tottenham finally saw the best of Gareth Bale. The Wales superstar celebrated only his third Premier League start of the season with a wonder show to batter Burnley. Bale rolled back the years as he scored twice - including the opener after only 68 seconds - and set up another for Harry Kane with a brilliant long-range pass. But forget the goals and the assists, there was one moment in the first half when he knocked the ball one side of as Burnley player and sprinted past him the other side to collect it, leaving him trailing as though he were Maicon. The former Inter Milan and Brazil full-back must still have nightmares after the way Bale roasted him in the Champions League a little over 10 years ago. Burnley’s back line will know how Maicon feels, even if at times they were architects of their own downfall. But you have to credit Bale for a performance … [Read more...] about Tottenham 4 Burnley 0: Gareth Bale back to his best with two goals as Kane and Moura sink sorry Clarets
