BRITS may have to show a vaccine passport to go to a pub or restaurant Dominic Raab suggested today. Proposals to introduce documents to let immunised Brits lead a normal life are “under consideration” he said. But this is the first time a Cabinet minister has broken cover to say that businesses in the UK could use them to let in or bar punters. He told LBC: “It is something that hasn’t been ruled out and is something under consideration. “But of course you have got to make it workable. “The thing, when I have looked at this – whether it is on the international, domestic or local level – you have to be confident the document being presented is something you can rely on. “That it is an accurate reflection of the status of the individual. “I am not sure there is a fool proof answer in the way it is sometimes presented. But we will look at all the options.” Whitehall officials have been drawing up plans to use vaccine passports to let Brits jet off abroad … [Read more...] about Brits may have to show a Covid vaccine passport to go to pub or restaurant

CURTIS Pritchard should probably stick to his day job as he leave fans cringing after trying his hand a stand-up comedy. The Celebs Go Dating star left the audience cringing as he opted for some very blue humour in the hopes of getting a laugh. Curtis , 25, was among the stars learning stand-up comedy from the professionals for a two-part series in support of Stand Up To Cancer. Care homes can refuse to hire staff or renew contracts of workers who won’t accept the vaccine, Justice Secretary confirms
Care homes can refuse to hire staff who won't accept the coronavirus vaccine, the Justice Secretary confirmed today. Robert Buckland said providers were legally allowed to make vaccination a condition of employment as long as they could provide a 'clear rationale'. He added the Government would not enforce 'no jab, no job' policies on care home workers, but added that it would not prevent employers blocking future contracts for those who refuse the vaccine. All care home staff staff and residents have been offered their first jab, yet more than a quarter (28.5 per cent) have refused to take it. Uptake is worst in London, where only 54.8 per cent of eligible staff in older care homes have had a jab. Vaccine hesitancy among black, Asian and minority ethnic groups, who make up a large proportion of care staff, is believed to be behind the poorer uptake, particularly in the capital. Care home residents are most vulnerable to Covid because their of age and frailty, … [Read more...] about Care homes can refuse to hire staff or renew contracts of workers who won’t accept the vaccine, Justice Secretary confirms
Single dose of Pfizer’s Covid vaccine blocks three-quarters of symptomless infections, study on NHS staff finds
A single dose of the Pfizer /BioNTech coronavirus vaccine may block 75 per cent of symptomless infections, a study on NHS workers has suggested. Asymptomatic screening of staff at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge showed the number of people testing positive fell from 0.8 per cent to 0.2 per cent 12 days after their injection. The 'very impressive' findings are another sign that the UK's gamble to delay the second dose in a bid to get wider coverage quicker has paid off. Curbing symptomless infections is crucial to stopping outbreaks from growing unknowingly because people who do not feel ill are less likely to self-isolate. Numerous studies had indicated that a single injection of the Pfizer jab prevented severe illness and death but to what degree it blocked asymptomatic spread was unclear. Research has also suggested Oxford University's jab stops more than 60 per cent of asymptomatic cases. The study, led by Cambridge University, analysed thousands of weekly Covid … [Read more...] about Single dose of Pfizer’s Covid vaccine blocks three-quarters of symptomless infections, study on NHS staff finds
