Thousands of Tyne Tunnel commuters will be able to get their hands on a hot drink on their way to work thanks to a new coffee bar at the site. From Tuesday, the Great North Coffee Company will be serving up a morning caffeine fix from the northbound side of the North Tyneside entrance. It will be a static coffee outlet, operating seven days a week. The plan is to eventually introduce seating for customers who do not wish to 'grab n go' their drinks, sandwiches or cakes, and will provide selected parking for commuters passing through on their journey. Jonathan Elliott, who is running the business, said: "I think I speak for most people who use the Tyne Tunnel regularly when I say a coffee outlet is very welcome just to grab that last minute coffee before work or to help get your caffeine fix before a long journey. The Playtrail’s new ‘Tea in the Park’ initiative has been announced as a joint winner of this year’s £2k Social Enterprise Competition run by Derry City & Strabane District Council as part of Enterprise Week 2019. Four food businesses were ordered to close last month while two improvement orders and two prohibition orders were served on others, including a range of 'slimming' teas and coffees. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) today reported the orders were issued by environmental health officers in the HSE for breaches of food safety legislation. One closure order was served under the FSAI Act, 1998 on Red Chilli take away, Maynooth, Co Kildare. Three more closure orders were served on Apache Pizza & Curry House, Enfield, Co Meath as well as Mr Kebab takeaway and Bite Time, both in Co Kerry. Improvement orders were served on Mapas Tapas in Carlingford, Co Louth and Bombay Bistro in Rush, Co Dublin. Bombay Bistro is under new ownership since February 13. Prohibition orders were served on the Friendly Meat Shop in Letterkenny, Co Donegal and Miss Fit Enterprises Limited, Co Dublin, which produces Miss Fit Skinny Tea. A planning application that would see £500,000 invested in support and business premises for enterprises in Haverhill is due to be submitted in the next few days.The project is for an extension to the MENTA Business Centre at Hollands Road which currently provides 28 business units.The St Edmundsbury Council owned property is leased to, and managed by MENTA, who work with established companies and start-up businesses and those considering self-employment.The not for profit organisation provides impartial business advice, business skills training and events to ensure businesses thrive and prosper.
