Work has begun on transforming one of Derby's most historic secondary school buildings to make it fit for the future. Scaffolding has gone up around The Bemrose School’s 1930s listed building, in Uttoxeter New Road, to bring the site "in line with 21st century teaching". Floors will be renovated, a new central heating system will be installed and a full refurbishment will also take place throughout the building as part of the proposals. News of the improvements follows on from the opening of the school’s new Oak Tree building, which will hold an additional 700 students.
