Hillary Clinton has found herself in hot water, after making a joke that was interpreted by some as racist. But this isn’t the first time that her turn of phrase has ended in scandal for the ex-presidential hopeful. While speaking at a conference over the weekend, Clinton corrected her interviewer – who had confused Senator Cory Booker and former Attorney General Eric Holder – with a side-splitting “I know they all look alike.” The joke was met with both gasps and laughter from the audience, with Clinton herself apparently much amused by her racially-tinged jest. While the media has remained curiously silent about the questionable quip, social media responses have highlighted a troubling double-standard. Still, others insisted that Clinton had simply made a sarcastic comment about a stereotype – a joke meant to belittle, not make light of, racial prejudice. Whatever her intentions, the former presidential candidate has a long history of launching … [Read more...] about Not quite Hillarious: 5 times Hillary Clinton’s jokes have fallen flat

In recent months, some reporters who cover the Trump White House have received phone calls from the last person they would expect: Hillary Clinton. The 2016 Democratic nominee has been rethinking her relationship with the press, among the many things she has been turning over — and over — in her head, acknowledging that her grouchy relationship with journalists was a problem. Now, she’s curious about the reporters covering Trump and has been putting out the occasional feeler. After President Donald Trump chastised ABC News’ Cecilia Vega at a news conference in the Rose Garden on Oct. 2 — “I know you’re not thinking, you never do,” he snapped at her — Clinton dialed up Vega and left a voicemail. The under-the-radar overtures have come as Clinton has been reinserting herself into the Trump story in other, more public ways. A former US Navy submariner says he will sue Obama administration officials for jailing him over mishandling classified information while going easy on Hillary Clinton for the same type of offense. Kristian Saucier served a year in federal prison for taking photographs of classified sections of the submarine he worked on. He argues that the same officials who threw the book at him went much easier on Hillary Clinton for using a private email server to handle classified State Department documents. The US Department of Justice, former FBI Director James Comey and former President Barack Obama are named as some of the defendants in Saucier’s complaint. Instead of risking a charge of treason, Saucier pleaded guilty to unauthorized retention of national defense information. He received … [Read more...] about Sailor pardoned by Trump is suing Obama & Comey for letting Clinton go
