A Clifton dad whose muscles are wasting away needs a new wheelchair to go out with his two sons. Daniel Stone is just 28 but has a disease called Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) which “gets worse every day” and means he can no longer walk more than a couple of steps on his own. He needs an electric wheelchair to get out with his kids but it recently broke down, leaving him stuck in his house. He is appealing for help to raise the £3,000 for a new one. The lead singer of The Hollies, Peter Howarth, will be performing at Clifton at the beginning of next month. Another Evening with Peter Howarth takes place at All Saints Church on Saturday, September 1, at 7.30pm. Peter is lead singer of The Hollies, a long time singer and guitarist with Cliff Richard and star of the London West End show, The Roy Orbison Story. He said: “I was enchanted by the theatre and still am so when I was asked to play Roy Orbison in the Roy Orbison Story, I jumped at the chance. Two men have been found guilty of affray following a fight in Clifton. Defendants Connor Jackson, 19, of Lingmell Close, West Bridgford, and Ryan Winstanley, 21, of Bidwell Crescent, Gotham, were convicted of the charge by a jury. Third defendant, Brandon Jackson, 21, of Wenlock Drive, West Bridgford, pleaded not guilty to wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and wounding. The jury was unable to reach verdicts in his case. A former doctors' surgery could be turned into flats. The terraced house on Clifton Down Road, in Clifton , once served the community’s health needs. But it is now empty and Lorna Harvey has applied to Bristol City Council to turn it into four flats. One apartment would have four bedrooms, two would have three bedrooms and one would be a three-bed maisonette covering the top two floors. The building is not listed but is inside a conservation area which makes it harder to get planning permission. Alder King Planning Consultants said the building had most recently been used as a dentists but had been empty since December 2017.
