Louise Redknapp admits her sons’ lives ‘changed dramatically’ when ex Jamie remarried and had baby
Louise Redknapp has opened up about her ex-husband Jamie Redknapp getting married again and having more children, and the impact it had on their teenage sons. The former Eternal singer split from the former Liverpool footballer in 2017 after 19 years of marriage and two children, sons Charley, 18, and Beau, 13. Following the divorce, Jamie, 49, has since remarried to model Frida Andersson in 2020 and the two went on to welcome a baby boy Raphael in November 2021. While Charley and Beau were no doubt thrilled to welcome a little baby brother, the changes in their father’s life and the divorce naturally made Louise, 47, want to ensure they had a source of stability as young teens. ‘I’ve felt this as a mum and, to say this in the most sort of respectful way, my boys’ lives changed dramatically and then it changed again when obviously Jamie got married and had a family,’ Louise said. She added to Hello! Magazine : ‘Their life changed and I felt like I needed to be … [Read more...] about Louise Redknapp admits her sons’ lives ‘changed dramatically’ when ex Jamie remarried and had baby

Britain is in crisis because of the arrogance and delusions of the lockdown fanatics
What the hell did you think would happen? For the better part of two years, we paid people to stay home , and covered the cost by printing money. In other words, for two years, the amount of goods and services being produced fell, while the amount of money in circulation rose. You don’t need a degree in economics to know that more money chasing fewer products means inflation. Most of us grasp the concept of a postponed reckoning. If you took two years off work, and maintained your income by borrowing, you’d be a lot worse off. We all understand that with reference to our own lives. So why do we struggle to extend the same reasoning to our nation’s finances? Perhaps because it is human to prefer sweet falsehoods to bitter truths. It would be lovely if there really were a way to get back to growth and stable money without significant cuts. And, politics being politics, various fools and opportunists are now stepping forward to claim that this can somehow be done. First, there are … [Read more...] about Britain is in crisis because of the arrogance and delusions of the lockdown fanatics
Macron says Putin using gas as ‘weapon of war’ amid rationing fears
F rench President Emmanuel Macron has accused Russia of using energy as a “weapon of war” as the chief executive of oil and gas giant Shell warned gas rationing in Europe this winter was possible. Mr Macron yesterday told citizens to "prepare for a scenario where we have to manage completely without Russian gas." "The summer, early autumn will be very hard," he said. "Russia is using energy, like it is using food, as a weapon of war." He said the government would prepare a "sobriety plan" to conserve energy, which would start with turning off public lights at night when they aren't useful. "We need a general mobilisation," Mr Macron said in a televised address for Bastille Day. Ben van Beurden, chief executive of Shell, echoed the French president’s remarks, saying Russia had shown it is “able and willing to weaponise energy supplies.” Mr van Beurden said Moscow had “surprised” the market and told governments to be prepared for the Kremlin to restrict gas further. “For a … [Read more...] about Macron says Putin using gas as ‘weapon of war’ amid rationing fears
Two days a week in the office is most we can manage, say staff at City watchdog
Staff at the City watchdog have told bosses that two days a week in the office is the most they can manage in the latest example of employees pushing back against a return to the workplace. Members of the “staff consultative committee” at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) told executives that any changes to its hybrid working policy could prove damaging during the cost of living crisis. The concerns were raised at a meeting of the FCA’s board at the end of June, when the regulator was trialling a policy that required staff to work from the office just two days a week. In recent weeks, the FCA has established a permanent requirement for staff to work from the office just 40pc of the time over a month, or two days a week on average. The complaint highlights how workers are now using the cost of living crisis to push back against more frequent days in the office, suggesting they are concerned about the price of commuting more than two days per week. It comes after a … [Read more...] about Two days a week in the office is most we can manage, say staff at City watchdog

Former head of British Army Lord Dannatt calls for aid to be sent to Afghanistan despite human rights abuses
A former head of the British Army has called for international aid to be returned to Afghanistan despite the Taliban's human rights abuses. Baron Dannatt said the withdrawal of aid had led to babies dying and people going hungry - and that the lack of education for women and other human rights failures are a price worth paying to continue aid. One year ago today Western troops left the Afghan capital of Kabul and the Taliban took control of the country. Aid is still being sent to Afghanistan , but it is distributed through NGOs and charities and does not go to the Taliban, according to the Foreign Office. Speaking to Sky News, Lord Dannatt said: "We quite unnecessarily withdrew in precipitate haste a year ago, but then I think absolutely outrageously have cut aid to Afghanistan. "Such that the people, the babies, are in a condition your film has just shown right across the country. "People are starving.
