Dancing On Ice recruit Matt Richardson joked tonight that Christoper Dean had "broken his face" - after the veteran skater's training technique landed him with a concussion and a black eye. Tonight marks Matt's Dancing On Ice debut after Rufus Hound was forced to pull out of the competition. And in training, visiting judge Christopher helped out Matt with a trick to stop him moving his arms by holding a pole. Unfortunately the pole got tangled with the blades of his skates and he took a tumble onto the hard ice. After his first performance, he racked up a respectable 23.5 out of a possible 40 - with Chris awarding him the lowest score of the judges with a five. "How do you feel now it's done?" Dancing On Ice star Matt Richardson recently announced he would be replacing Rufus Hound, who had tested positive for Covid and therefore had to pull out. And ahead of his first appearance on the show on Saturday, he revealed he has already been injured during training. Comedian Matt, 29, has been in training for the same amount of time the other celebrities taking part have, only off camera. "I was injured," he told Lorraine Kelly on her show on Friday, and added that he blamed one of the judges. "It was entirely Christopher Dean’s fault, I think even he knows that deep down," he joked. "On the masterclass day, I went to skate and I was terrible and they said the problem was my limbs, which isn’t ideal. Dancing On Ice judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean spoke to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby about the upcoming series in an exclusive webinar. And Jayne revealed she once "nailed" Chris' hand all the way through with the blade of her ice skate in one of their nastier accidents. They had been discussing Yebin Mok, who was severely injured by her skating partner Graham Bell's ice skate, with her leg cut through to the tendon. The injury resulted in an overnight hospital stay and Yebin and Graham were forced to move to the second week for their first skate instead of this Sunday. Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have said they won't skate forever and have already seen some signs retirement might be on the horizon. The skating sensations, aged 63 and 62, have been dazzling on the ice for almost 40 years since their incredible routine at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics . Now the Dancing On Ice judges have admitted their skating days are approaching an end, with them vowing to continue only while they can perform 'to a level we're happy with'.
