A FEMALE cop was sacked for a racist rant in a takeaway during a Christmas night out. At a misconduct hearing, PC Katie Barratt admitted to using the word “p***” when she was at the Spice of Punjab takeaway in Newcastle city centre. The 22-year-old, who said she wanted to be a police officer since she was a child, denied using the word “n*****” and disputed the accounts of two fellow officers who testified against her. PC Corey Bradley and PC Alex Downs, who were with her on the evening of December 14, 2017, told the hearing she was intoxicated, unable to walk properly and slurring her words. Barratt accepts she was drunk but rejected their claims that she was “out of control”. The first allegation was that she made racially offensive comments about staff in the takeaway and said “f****** n*****” and “f****** p****” - however Barratt denied this. Does your child have a burning desire to perform on stage? If so, Loughborough Town Hall may have just the opportunity for them. The venue is looking for boys and girls aged between eight and 16-years-old to appear in the Christmas panto, Beauty And The Beast - being produced by Little Wolf Entertainment. They need to have bags of energy and personality, as well as excellent dancing, singing and acting skills. Auditions for the Junior Ensemble places will be taking place at Loughborough Town Hall on Sunday, July 1. The workshop-style audition will be in two sessions, age dependent, with everyone getting the chance to showcase their talent. For children aged eight to 12, registration will begin at 9.30am, with a 10am start. For those aged 13 to 16, registration will begin at 1.30pm for a 2pm start. There is no need to prepare anything. By Louise RoseingraveA 24-year-old motorcyclist was almost five times over the legal limit when he crashed and died early on Christmas morning.The young man was travelling on the wrong side of the road when the accident happened on the Crumlin Road at 3.43am on December 25, 2016.He had been socialising with friends at a party shortly before his motorbike collided with railings at the junction of Crumlin Road and Herbert Road.Luis Alejandro Rios Cardenas, from Venezuela, had been living in Ireland for more than three years and worked in the kitchen of a Dublin restaurant.On the morning he died, he was travelling from a party at a house in Crumlin towards Dolphin’s Barn.His friend Miguel Fuenmayor said he spent around three hours at the party and drank rum, beer and a shot of Jagermeister.“I heard him leave the driveway at speed. He always drove at speed.
