‘True horror’ of long covid sufferer’s 105 days on edge of death and year of pain

One of Britain's longest suffering Covid patients has called for people to take up their vaccine a year after she was struck down with the virus. Fatima Bridle has warned of the “true horror” of Covid and revealed she had a vivid dream when she was in a two-month coma battling the virus that it wasn't her time to die. The 35-year-old contracted coronavirus when she flew back from a holiday in Morocco in early March last year – before the global pandemic had taken hold. She spent 141 days in hospital, 105 of which were on the brink of death on a ventilator battling the virus, sepsis and pneumonia. A year later she still suffers from the debilitating symptoms of “Long Covid”. What is your view? She's back: Maggie Rhee finally returned to Alexandria on Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead on AMC But before she could get comfortable, she had a host of new challenges to deal with, not least the fact that Negan, the man who killed her husband, was living there, too. Royal Family ‘united in prayers’ for Prince Philip as mood ‘significantly shifts’

The mood at Windsor Castle ­darkened ­today after Prince Philip was admitted for heart tests as he continued to battle a raging infection, sources said last night. And fears grew for the 99-year-old with medical experts warning he could be kept in for up to six weeks while he is treated for an underlying condition. Philip was moved by ambulance at around 11am from the private King Edward VII hospital in Central London to St Bartholomew’s, Britain’s oldest hospital near St Paul’s Cathedral. Staff held up umbrellas to ensure the Duke’s privacy as he was carried by stretcher to the waiting vehicle. A royal source said: “The staff and all the Royal Family are united in their prayers for the Duke. “There has been an almighty and collective effort to keep him and the Queen safe during the coronavirus crisis over the past 11 months but there was a significant shift in the mood when everyone started finding out the Duke wasn’t coming home any time soon. The 2021 Budget will feature everything from booze, fuel and cigarettes to wages, housing and Britain's Covid response. Rishi Sunak is set to focus on four themes - "support, vision, recovery, honesty" - when he addresses the nation in his annual statement next Wednesday. The Tory Chancellor is tipped to extend furlough, the Stamp Duty cut and other Covid support by three months, and the £20-a-week Universal Credit uplift by six months. He will unveil grim financial projections on Britain's economy and begin to sketch a vision for how it'll be made better post-vaccine - with grants of up to £18,000 for lockdown-battered firms to reopen. He could announce a string of other measures to help the economy recover - though some of these, like schemes to push people back into shops and restaurants, may not come until later.
