Manchester United have been made to pay for their early exit from this season's Champions League. United's shock exit to Sevilla in the last-16 sees United as the lowest earning English side in the competition this year, with fierce rivals Liverpool potentially earning double their revenue. And despite exiting the competition at the same stage as Tottenham the Reds have still earned £15m less than their Premier League rivals. That's because United received far less revenue than their English counterparts due to the fact they qualified for the competition as Europa League winners, rather than finishing in the top four. Unsurprisingly semi-finalists Liverpool have earned the most this season, with their current figure of £57m likely to rise after taking part in the last four ties.
