Super Spreader Bowl: Critics blast maskless fans and lack of social distancing as Tampa Bay take on Kansas City in front of 22,000 supporters and 30,000 cardboard cut outs

· February 8, 2021 ·

Critics have blasted fans at the Super Bowl for failing to wear masks properly and disregarding social distancing rules amid fears the game could turn into a Covid super-spreader event. The hashtag 'SuperSpreaderBowl' began trending on Twitter on Sunday night as armchair viewers were distracted from the on-field action by the antics of the crowd. 'The real winner of the Super Bowl is Covid', one tweeted as images of fans with masks pulled down around their necks and standing close together were aired. A bevy of precautions were put in place to have fans attend the game in person safely, including limiting capacity to 30 per cent and requiring masks except when eating or drinking. But those rules appeared to go out the window as the night wore on, with images showing fans crowding close together in the stands. The hashtag #SuperSpreaderBowl started trending on Twitter on Sunday night as critics called out a perceived lack of social distancing in the stands at Super … [Read more...] about Super Spreader Bowl: Critics blast maskless fans and lack of social distancing as Tampa Bay take on Kansas City in front of 22,000 supporters and 30,000 cardboard cut outs

That didn’t take long! New father Jack Brooksbank’s bosses at £45-a-bottle tequila company send out press release 11 MINUTES after Princess Eugenie’s baby news asking that reports name-check the brand

· February 10, 2021 ·

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank welcomed their first child yesterday - and the £45-a-bottle tequila company where he works was quick to capitalise on the news. Just 11 minutes after Buckingham Palace officially announced the couple had welcomed a son, Casamigos sent out a press request that any mention of proud father Mr Brooksbank should include his 'official title' and namecheck the brand. Unlike his wife, Mr Brooksbank does not hold a royal title. Instead this refers to his job as 'European Brand Director of Casamigos Tequila'. The statement read: 'Due to the recent news surrounding the arrival of the Royal Baby from HRH Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, we wanted to drop you a note to ask if you are to mention any further details about Jack Brooksbank that you use his official title: European Brand Director of Casamigos Tequila.' Mr Brooksbank first started working with Casamigos – which was co-founded by Hollywood star George Clooney and Cindy Crawford's husband … [Read more...] about That didn’t take long! Social distancing and mask rules will have to last until at least AUTUMN, ministers believe after SAGE doomsters pushed back on easing lockdown

· February 12, 2021 ·

Social distancing and face mask rules will have to last until at least the autumn under plans being discussed by Downing Street to ease Britain out of coronavirus lockdown. No10's top scientific advisers yesterday warned there must be no more than 10,000 Britons infected on any given day — the equivalent of fewer than 1,000 daily cases — before Boris Johnson should start easing the measures, or they claim the country risks allowing new mutant variants to spawn. To dip below the 1,000 mark, cases must drop by at least 15-fold as official data shows around 15,000 Britons are testing positive each day. It is understood that the Prime Minister's plan to end lockdown hinges on the expectation that people will continue to adhere to social distancing rules and wear facemasks for months to come, the Times reported. Experts have even suggested these restrictions may need to remain in place until the end of the year. A Whitehall insider said: 'The thinking is that social distancing … [Read more...] about Social distancing and mask rules will have to last until at least AUTUMN, ministers believe after SAGE doomsters pushed back on easing lockdown

Why can’t England have clearer rules on exercise? Ministers come under mounting pressure to clarify ‘woolly’ lockdown restrictions and set firm distances like counterparts in Scotland and Northern Ireland

· January 12, 2021 ·

Ministers are under mounting pressure to clarify exactly how far people can travel for exercise amid public and police confusion over 'woolly' lockdown rules. Government advice urges people to stay 'local' but does not specify a distance in law, which has resulted in officers making their own interpretations and incorrectly fining walkers driving just five miles from home. Boris Johnson, who has himself come under fire for cycling in the Olympic Park seven miles from his Downing Street flat, has been urged to follow the devolved administrations and set clear boundaries. In Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon has permitted people to travel up to five miles outside their local authority area, and in Northern Ireland, the Executive has placed a 10-mile limit. Wales also has a 'stay local' rule. Hopes of immediate clarification for England appeared to be scotched this evening as a senior police officer said people should instead use their own judgement. Chairman of the National Police … [Read more...] about Why can’t England have clearer rules on exercise?
