The legalisation of cannabis is one of the most frequently debated topics of our time. Products like CBD oil, also known as cannabis oil or cannabidiol, have soared in popularity. According to the Cannabis Trades Association UK, the number of cannabidiol consumers shot from 125,000 in 2017 to 250,000 in 2018. Cannabis-derived products are gaining increased recognition for their supposed medical usages. Last year a report by the World Health Organisation (WHO) revealed CBD may help treat symptoms relating to Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, MS, pain, anxiety, depression, cancer and diabetic complications. In June of this year, Charlotte Caldwell had her son’s cannabis oil seized at Heathrow airport when she attempted to bring it into the UK from Canada. Her son Billy suffers from a severe form of epilepsy, having as many as 100 seizures a day. Ms Caldwell accused the Home Office of “signing her son’s death warrant”, … [Read more...] about CBD oil: What is cannabis oil and can it benefit health?

On nights that Congress is in session, Rep. James Comer, a farmer from Kentucky, lays down on a fold-up mattress in his office on the fifth floor of the Longworth building and hits the lights by 10:30. Before he does, he reaches for a small bottle of CBD oil (made from Kentucky hemp) and squeezes a couple of drops onto his tongue. “If I miss a night or two and don’t take it, my joints hurt really bad, especially in my hands in the morning,” Comer, a dedicated recreational golfer, told me. “But when I take it, I don’t have any joint pain.” For those unfamiliar with the federal government’s drug laws, it is worth pointing out that the Drug Enforcement Administration considers the substance Comer ingests each night to be as dangerous as heroin. So why would a sitting congressman, even one from a relatively safe Republican district, admit to a reporter that he takes an illegal drug … on government property? The answer gets at the messy and … [Read more...] about How two Kentucky politicians are about to legalize hemp
NEW Emmerdale star Ash Palmisciano has revealed that his identity has been stolen by a man selling CBD oil out of the boot of a car. The actor - who plays Matty Barton in the ITV soap - was left shocked yesterday when he was asked by his friends why he advertising was selling the cannabis oil on social media. He was forced to take to social media and point out that actually he wasn't flogging the oil via Facebook. In an Instagram video, he said: "What an absolute liberty mate. What a liberty. "This geezer on Facebook pretending to be me and selling CBD oil out of the back of his car. "Saying come on down and you get 10 per cent off if you say Ash sent you. What a joker." The oil has been claimed to be beneficial for treating a number of ailments and is at the centre of high-profile legal rows in Britain. Cannabis oil is a substance extracted from the cannabis plant by steam distillation. A low-concentrate version of the oil is available to buy in the UK and is not illegal — but … [Read more...] about Emmerdale star Ash Palmisciano reveals an man is impersonating him to sell CBD oil on Facebook
SQUEEZING the pipette of cannabis oil under her tongue, Ceri Jones closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “Please save my life,” she thought. In May this year, Ceri had bought a marijuana tincture from an online supplier in Germany in a bid to out-smart advanced, aggressive pancreatic cancer. Is cannabis oil illegal in the UK, is it different from concentrated CBD oil and can it be used to treat cancer? “Until medicinal cannabis is freely and legally available, I know I’m breaking the law,” admits Ceri, 38, from Surrey. “But when I was told I was out of treatment options, I decided I’d try anything so my children don’t grow up without me.” Last month, medicinal marijuana hit the headlines again with the story of 12-year-old Billy Caldwell from County Tyrone, who suffers from drug-resistant epilepsy and experiences up to 100 seizures a day. When his mother Charlotte, 50, returned to the UK after flying to Canada to legally obtain … [Read more...] about From tackling cancer to beating anxiety, medicinal cannabis helps thousands of people around the world — yet it’s illegal in the UK
The UK is the largest exporter of medicinal cannabis in the world, and yet under current legislation, it is illegal in Britain for cannabis to be supplied to ease the symptoms of chronic illnesses – such as cancer, diabetes, HIV and Crohn’s disease – or for it to be prescribed by a doctor. The recent plight of Billy Caldwell, a 12-year-old boy with severe epilepsy, whose seizures appeared to be lessened by the use of cannabis oil, has shone new light on this disparity. After a high profile media campaign, the Home Office intervened to offer Caldwell a 20-day license to use the oil. It also announced a review into the law regarding the prescription of medicinal cannabis. This has led many to question why the drug is still illegal in the first place. Theories range from Home Office resistance to issue official licensing to all but one company, GW Pharmaceuticals, for the development of new products to the stigma and dangers attached to recreational use. It is … [Read more...] about ConsumerBusinessSpotlightConsumerBusinessSpotlightConsumerBusinessSpotlightConsumerBusinessSpotlightConsumerBusinessSpotlightThis is why people are breaking the law to grow medical cannabis in the UK
