The legalisation of cannabis is one of the most frequently debated topics of our time. Products like CBD oil, also known as cannabis oil or cannabidiol, have soared in popularity. According to the Cannabis Trades Association UK, the number of cannabidiol consumers shot from 125,000 in 2017 to 250,000 in 2018. Cannabis-derived products are gaining increased recognition for their supposed medical usages. Last year a report by the World Health Organisation (WHO) revealed CBD may help treat symptoms relating to Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, MS, pain, anxiety, depression, cancer and diabetic complications. A fire that engulfed scaffolding covering a high-rise construction site in the heart of Sydney has been put out, after dramatic scenes of flames and smoke shooting up the building. The fire started at the northern end of the Macquarie St building, near Hyde Park, about 7.50am today, with crews racing to the site and closing the street. The blaze, which forced the evacuation of about 20 people, involved external scaffolding on the building and not cladding, Fire & Rescue NSW confirmed in a tweet. Rows of fire trucks and police vehicles lined the street in the legal precinct, as the fire brought part of the CBD to a standstill. City workers observing the event unfold described the dramatic scenes and the speed at which the flames covered the building. "The flames were going up the scaffolding. In a report released Thursday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that synthetic products falsely labeled as cannabidiol, or CBD, sickened as many as 52 people from October through January. The CDC urged states to set up regulatory and control systems "to minimize the risk for recurrences of this emerging public health threat." CBD is derived from cannabis but is designed not to produce a high. Users say it provides relief from pain and can fight seizures. This year, Utah passed a new law that supporters say will prevent the illnesses from happening again. The oil had previously been in a legal gray area. It's been legal for people with epilepsy in Utah since 2014, but there is no regulatory system to oversee the oil's safety. Bottles labeled as CBD have edged their way into Utah smoke shops and health … [Read more...] about 52 people sickened by fake CBD oil in Utah
