A thief has got inside a town centre pub and fled with a bag full of food – including up to 20 of the venue’s famous home-made fishcakes. The woman was caught on CCTV inside the Lymestone Vaults, in Newcastle, during the early-morning raid. It captures her going into the pub’s kitchen, rifling through the fridge and then emerging a short time later with a black bin bag. The bag was later found in the churchyard at nearby St Giles’s Church - with the majority of food still inside. Now Lymestone Brewery - which owns the Pepper Street pub - wants the public's help to try to catch the thief. Brewery co-director Viv Bradford said: “The woman didn’t break in, she used a key of some description. She was seen trying various keys in locks in the area. I think she just got lucky with us after fiddling with ours because it was an old lock. "The CCTV shows her come through the door and go in the kitchen. She was in there for about 15 minutes. She took the … [Read more...] about WANTED: Can YOU help catch the thief who pinched 20 fishcakes from this pub?

A DAD live-streamed his dramatic six-day hunt for the thief who stole his iPad - tracking its every move with GPS technology. Astonishingly Jonathan Downey managed to locate the device, which was nicked from his car last Friday, and confront the crook who had it. The dad-of-four followed the iPad's movements through pubs, bars and churchyards across Hoxton, north east London, using Apple's Find My iPhone feature. Jonathan documented every development in the search for the tablet on Twitter, joking that it was "having a great time" with its new illegitimate owner. As his do-it-yourself investigation continued, he tweeted: "For a minute there I thought we had the f*****. My iPad has been on the move again. "Looks like he put a bet on in Ladbrokes on East St before heading off to the Tesco on Bunhill Row either for some fags or to get something for tea." He later explained that, based on the thief's daily routine, the crook was either a "catering student" from a nearby college or a … [Read more...] about Dad live tweets incredible six-day treasure hunt for his own stolen iPad as he tracks the thief through London bars and churchyards
RTV Oost reported. Local policeman Tom Hamhuis came up with the idea after a local woman reported in August that her underwear had been stolen from the garden washing line. Police at first thought it was a joke, but took the issue more seriously when a bunch of red roses were left on the woman’s doorstep. They put up surveillance cameras, but they failed to capture a good photograph of the thief. Then Hamhuis decided to use a transmitter to try to trace the stolen goods. The thief struck again and was arrested. Police found underwear from several different people at his home and have appealed for other victims to come forward.
