Neil Warnock has spoken once again about the postponement of Cardiff City’s clash with Derby County. The two teams were due to meet on Sunday, March 18 at Pride Park Stadium, but the match was called off due to adverse weather conditions. Cardiff had won seven on the spin and could have gone 10 points clear in the second automatic promotion spot. The match has been rearranged and will now take place on Tuesday, April 24. Warnock was asked about the postponement in build-up to his side’s clash with Burton Albion on Good Friday. Read More Derby County news and views “I’m not a healthy and safety inspector! I don’t think the fans deserved three tough away games in seven days, financially,” said Warnock. He added: “The next game is April 24 and we’re pleased with that and we’ll get on with it. I’m sure it’ll be two full strength teams.” The Bluebirds are currently 14 points above Derby in the table in second place, … [Read more...] about What Warnock said today when asked (again) about Derby v Cardiff postponement
Burton Albion's players are refreshed, refocused and ready to chase down their rivals in the battle for Championship survival. With the final international break of the season in the bag, the Brewers returned to training at the start of this week to prepare for eight games that will decide their fate - and whether it lies in English football's second tier. The push to move out of the relegation zone - where they have been since December 30 - continues at promotion-chasing Cardiff City tomorrow. And Nigel Clough sees no lack of belief from his players that they can drag the sides above them back into the relegation tussle. "We went straight into an 11 v 11 game on Monday, which we don't do very often - usually we don't have enough numbers!" said the Brewers boss. "That was the thing to say, 'right, we've had the few days rest, get back, get focused'. "And they have all come back ready for the last eight games. "I do think we believe we can survive, because there are still enough … [Read more...] about Why Brewers believe as they chase ‘huge’ wins against Cardiff and Boro
Nigel Clough says Cardiff City's push for the Premier League under Neil Warnock is no fluke. Former Albion boss Warnock took over in the Bluebirds hotseat after Paul Trollope was sacked following a 2-0 defeat to the Brewers in October 2016 - a result that left them 23rd in the Championship. Seventeen months on, Cardiff are on track for automatic promotion to the top flight, with a seven-point lead over third-placed Fulham and a game in hand to come too. Should City build upon their recent run of seven successive wins and secure only a second season in English football's top flight since 1962, it would be Warnock's eighth promotion as a manager. And ahead of Albion's trip to the Cardiff City Stadium on Friday (3pm), opposite number Clough knows how valuable that record is as the Bluebirds look to go up. "I think that’s where Neil has vast experience in that department," said Clough when discussing the need for teams to hold their nerve at this stage of the season. "I remember … [Read more...] about Clough on why Cardiff’s promotion push is ‘no fluke’

By David Mohan IT is a new dynamic for Ryan Burnett this Saturday at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff when the Newington man defends his WBA bantamweight title against Yonfrez Parejo (21-2-1). Having fought for and won two world title belts in 2017 against Lee Haskins (IBF) and Zhanat Zhakiyanov, it is now the 25 year-old who is the man everyone in the 118lb division is gunning for. His opponent this Saturday on the Sky Box Office card headlined by the heavyweight blockbuster between Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker is 31 year-old, Parejo. His mandatory challenger for the WBA title he won off Zhakiyanov at the SSE Arena last time out, the man from Venezuela is a former WBA interim champion, surrendering that belt to the Kazakh Burnett overcame back in October.
