Computer issues have resulted in the cancellation of around 2500 flights for an American regional airline. PSA Airlines, which operates under the American Eagle brand for American Airlines, saw a computer glitch kick in Thursday, which disrupted its crew scheduling, CNBC reported. Woman receives shocking texts after American Airlines fails at finding her bag As a result all of its flights were cancelled Tuesday morning as the airline worked through schedules to get aircraft crews where they needed to be to resume operations, American Airlines spokeswoman Katie Cody said. However the airline has since "stabilised" its computer system, which was operating too slowly to schedule crew members in time for flights, Ms Cody said. PSA will now operate a reduced scheduled over the next few days as it works to restore its full services. AN American family have spoken of their horror at discovering a rat in their suitcase following an American Airlines flight. Merry Cannon, 36, was excited to be joining her husband on a business trip to Germany and France from Arkansas with their two young children aged one and five on March 5. Unfortunately, their holiday had gotten off to a bumpy start, as their flight from Fayetteville was cancelled due to a broken windshield and they then they missed their connecting flight in Chicago. On arrival in Chicago, they were called to report to the American Airlines customer service desk where they were told their seats “had been given up”. It took hours to get rebooked, and they didn’t fly out until 10pm the next day, so they had to skip the whole leg of the trip to Germany and fly into Brussels, rent a car and drive two hours to Lille, France. But all of these inconveniences paled into insignificance when it came to getting hold of their luggage. The process of claiming compensation for a delayed or cancelled flight is notoriously non-user-friendly, to the point where some travellers are put off following through with their legal right. So much so that according to the latest figures, more than £4million in reparation is currently owed to passengers in the UK, with Thomson racking up the highest amount of debt (£2.4million to approximately 5,000 delayed passengers). Furthermore, according to UK law firm Bott & Co - which drew the data from the Registry Trust Online, a company that records all County Court Judgments in England and Wales - 73 per cent of claims that have been made to Thomson were wrongfully declined by the carrier. And these are the passengers who bothered to try. Plenty more simply don't have the time to wrestle with the bureaucracy. Maruis Fermi, UK manager at the flight compensation website AirHelp, said: "We know that each year 8 million air passengers are entitled to compensation for a delayed, … [Read more...] about Which airlines owe passengers the most money in compensation?
SYDNEY (Reuters) – American Airlines Group Inc and Qantas Airways Ltd are making a second attempt at gaining U.S. regulatory permission for a venture that would allow them to coordinate prices and schedules, threatening to cancel services if they are rejected. The pair’s application for a joint venture covering the United States, Australia and New Zealand was rejected in 2016 under the Obama administration amid opposition from rival carriers Hawaiian Airlines Inc and JetBlue Airways Corp. The airlines have said they hope the new administration will look more favourably on an application as President Donald Trump has promised to boost U.S. industry through lighter regulation and a more hands-off approach to anti-trust enforcement. “The proposed joint business will significantly improve service, stimulate demand and unlock more than $300 million annually in consumer benefits that are not achievable through any other form of cooperation,” Qantas said in a statement … [Read more...] about American Airlines, Qantas re-seek U.S. nod for joint venture
