Cadbury’s Creme Egg fans startled by how much sugar is in each chocolate

March 9, 2020 by www.dailystar.co.uk

We all know there are going to be consequences when we reach for our favourite sweets and treats. Chocolate in particular are high in sugar and not all kinds are considered to be the healthy kind. Cadbury’s Creme Eggs are one of the nation’s favourites, but have you ever wondered how much sugar is in one? According to the official website , each 40g Creme Egg contains 177kcal, 6.1g of fat, 3.7g saturates, 0.06g salt and 26.5g of sugar. It comes after a woman shared a post on The Little Red Hut Home & Gifs Facebook page which showed the Creme Egg next to a pile of sugar. She wrote: “Warning, may upset Creme Egg lovers. This amount of sugar in one [Creme Egg]? Surely not… crikey!” The NHS does advise anyone over the age of 11 to limit their daily sugar intake to 30g. And it was no surprise that people on Twitter were startled by the amount of sugar in each Creme Egg. One wrote: “Wowsers! That’s A LOT of sugar. I love a creme egg but this is shocking.” Another … [Read more...] about Cadbury’s Creme Egg fans startled by how much sugar is in each chocolate

Jacob Rees-Mogg’s Whitehall forecast: Civil servants like working from home on sunny days

May 13, 2022 by www.telegraph.co.uk

Jacob Rees-Mogg has a plan for forcing civil servants back to work. He’s going to begin studying the weather. The Cabinet minister in charge of government efficiency is convinced that on sunny days, Whitehall mandarins are choosing to work from home. He has already made the discovery that office attendance spikes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and he “can’t help but be suspicious” of civil servants’ “desire” to work from home on Mondays and Fridays. He wonders whether their working week is “shorter” than it should be. Sitting in his office, posing for photographs somewhat pointedly behind his desk, Mr Rees-Mogg, at the age of 52, sounds just a trifle exasperated. Actually, make that mildly, but politely, furious. The tin of Cadbury Creme Eggs on his desk almost shakes in fear. The Montblanc pen beside it, you worry, might roll off. The Government is planning to cut 91,000 Civil Service posts , creating £3.75 billion of annual savings. The announcement, heralded on … [Read more...] about Jacob Rees-Mogg’s Whitehall forecast: Civil servants like working from home on sunny days

July 4, 2018 by www.bbc.co.uk

Published 4 July 2018 comments Comments Share close Share page Copy link About sharing Cadbury, Chewits and Squashies sweets have become the first companies to have online adverts banned under new rules targeting junk food ads for children. The Advertising Standards Authority said the companies did not do enough to prevent under-16s seeing the content. New rules governing children's advertising online came into force last July, adding to rules already in place for TV ads. The adverts featured on the companies' websites, apps or social media. April 19, 2022 by www.stuff.co.nz

With just 99 days till the Commonwealth Games, the global pandemic has left many Kiwi athletes with a short runway back into international competition. Suzanne McFadden spoke to seven women on the dash for Birmingham. From a famine to a feast. A New Zealand team expected to hit 230 will line up in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in July (just 13 have been officially selected so far), and many have been starved of international contests since last year’s Tokyo Olympics – in some cases, even further in the past. But suddenly they face a flood of competition, with codes like swimming, athletics, basketball and hockey, all having world championships mere weeks before their athletes need to front up again in Birmingham.
