The hot air must end and the Government must demonstrate that it is not being outwitted by the rules, the French, people-smugglers or Left-wing lawyers. After a week's break, the Johnny Depp v Amber Heard libel trial resumes today - with the actor's legal team set to begin their questioning of his ex-wife following her allegations of physical and sexual abuse. The hearing is taking place in Fairfax, Virginia, in front of jurors, who have now heard four weeks of testimony from family, friends, medics, expert witnesses and staff members past and present of both Depp and Heard , as well as the former couple themselves. Lawyers for Depp have rested their case after finishing questioning of his witnesses, with Heard's witnesses now set to give their side of the story for the remaining two weeks of the trial. Rishi Sunak has refused to rule out introducing a one-off windfall tax on oil and gas producers in an attempt to cut household energy bills as Labour looks to force a Commons vote on the matter. Sir Keir Starmer's party are seeking to force a vote on an amendment which expresses regret that the policy was not included in the Queen's Speech amid the cost of living crisis . Rishi Sunak has refused to rule out introducing a one-off windfall tax on oil and gas producers in an attempt to cut household energy bills - as some senior Conservative MPs joined Labour in calling for the policy to be implemented. MPs discussed "the short-term and long-term cost of living increases" on the fifth day of debate on the Queen's Speech . Sir Keir Starmer's party forced a vote on an amendment which expressed regret that a windfall tax policy was not included in the Queen's Speech amid the cost of living crisis . The amendment was defeated by 310 votes to 248, a majority of 62 votes.
