I spend $200k a year on beauty – I never wash my own hair, jet my facialist in from UK & spend 4 hours a day on make-up

· March 2, 2021 ·

WHEN Saffron Drewitt-Barlow feels her skin is lacking a bit of glow, she knows exactly what to do – get online and book a first-class plane ticket for her favourite beauty therapist. Money is no object for the 21-year-old, which is why she’s able to splash $10,000 a time arranging for her number one facialist to fly from her home in Brighton to Saffron’s family mansion in Florida. Far from being a rarity, it’s something Saffron does every month or so (Covid permitting)… and it’s just the beginning of her mammoth beauty spend. The daughter of Britain’s first gay dads, ex-couple and multi-millionaires Barrie and Tony Drewitt-Barlow, also forks out over $12,000 a year to keep her hair extensions looking good, has a make-up artist on her books for whenever she needs him and gets her lashes and nails down every couple of weeks. It’s all part of Saffron’s Absolutely Fabulous life , which she’s detailing in her new Fabulous column. She’s already touched on the unusual family … [Read more...] about I spend $200k a year on beauty – I never wash my own hair, jet my facialist in from UK & spend 4 hours a day on make-up

Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert reminds parents not to miss out on thousands of pounds of tax-free childcare

· March 3, 2021 ·

MARTIN Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert is urging parents not to miss out on thousands of pounds of tax-free childcare. As part of the tax-free childcare scheme, you can get up to £500 every three months - up to £2,000 a year - for each of your children. For disabled children, the maximum amount you could get rises to £4,000. The scheme essentially works like a savings account where for every £8 you save towards childcare costs, the government tops up an extra £2. So if you put away £8,000 a year for one child, the government will give you £2,000 totally free. But MoneySavingExpert estimates fewer than one in five of the 1.3 million families eligible for tax-free childcare aren’t taking advantage of the scheme. What help is available for parents for childcard costs? CHILDCARE can be a costly business but here is how you can get help: 30 hours free childcare  - Parents of three and four-year-olds can apply for 30 hours free childcare a week. To qualify you must … [Read more...] about Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert reminds parents not to miss out on thousands of pounds of tax-free childcare

I wouldn’t be caught dead in Primark & Michael Kors is for those wishing to be rich, my designer wardrobe is over £1M

· February 23, 2021 ·

HORDES of young women can’t wait for Primark to throw open its doors once lockdown eases, but Saffron Drewitt-Barlow is most definitely not among them. She’s branded the budget retailer one of several “sh*t shops” she’d never dream of splashing her, considerable, cash in. The 21-year-old daughter of Britain’s first gay dads , ex-couple and multi-millionaires Barrie and Tony Drewitt-Barlow, thinks nothing of buying up $50,000 trainers, Chanel dresses or Louis Vuitton bags on a whim. Worn just once, they sit in one of her several multi-million pound wardrobes, with anything that doesn’t fit given to a mate because who can be bothered with returns? It’s all part of Saffron’s Absolutely Fabulous life , which she’s detailing in her new Fabulous column. She’s already touched on the unusual family dynamic which sees her living with her dads AND their new partners (with Barrie, 50, now dating her ex Scott, 27) and her surgery plans. This week it’s all about fashion… and … [Read more...] about I wouldn’t be caught dead in Primark & Michael Kors is for those wishing to be rich, my designer wardrobe is over £1M

Budget 2021: Rise in corporation tax and freeze on thresholds as Rishi Sunak tries to recover COVID debt

· March 3, 2021 ·

Chancellor Rishi Sunak has set out an extra £65bn in COVID support for employees and businesses - but announced a freeze on income tax thresholds and a rise in corporation tax to help pay back the UK's rising debts. In his budget speech, Mr Sunak set out a three-part plan to "protect jobs and livelihoods of the British people". But he warned that "corrective action" would be needed to tackle the UK's rising debt, as he set out how the government was now committed to spending £407bn on coronavirus support with borrowing at levels last seen in the 1940s. Budget 2021 summary: Key announcements at a glance as Covid spending hits £407bn

· March 3, 2021 ·

Tory Rishi Sunak today announced changes to tax, furlough and Stamp Duty in his 2021 Budget . The Chancellor said he must take "unpopular" and "honest" decisions as he reversed some Tory Corporation Tax cuts and cancelled an Income Tax break for millions of Brits. He warned next year borrowing will hit £234bn or 10.3% of GDP - “an amount so large it has only one rival in recent history, this year”. And Covid spending including fiscal support has hit £407bn. But in reality the Chancellor put off many of the most painful decisions until later and gave businesses a huge tax break for now - one he claimed was the biggest in history. He also extended several breaks and Covid support schemes beyond the end of the roadmap. Mr Sunak said more than 700,000 people have lost their jobs since March and the economy has fallen by more than 10% - the fastest fall in more than 300 years. “It’s going to take this country and the whole world a long time to recover from this extraordinary … [Read more...] about Budget 2021 summary: Key announcements at a glance as Covid spending hits £407bn
