A US fighter pilot was reportedly left shaken after he spent 30 minutes duelling in the sky with a white shape that appeared to totally outclass his fighter plane. Lieutenant George F. Gorman was a veteran World War 2 aviator but was stunned by the eerie encounter he had in the skies over Fargo, North Dakota . And his so-called "dogfight" with a UFO on October 1, 1948, is one of the most baffling encounters from the early days of the phenomenon . Gorman is alleged to have witnessed a bright white ball of an object which seemed to totally outclass his P-51 Mustang. Serving with the North Dakota National Guard at the time, the pilot was on a training mission when he spotted the object at around 9pm. It was also seen by those on the ground and a civilian plane - but when Gorman flew to intercept he ended up in a game high speed cat and mouse with the shape for 27 minutes. Jack Wilshere retires aged 30 to become Arsenal’s new Under-18s coach
Jack Wilshere is poised to be appointed as the new under-18s head coach at Arsenal after bringing an end to his playing career at the age of 30. The former Arsenal and England midfielder announced on Friday that he has retired from playing, saying he “lived my dream” as a footballer. Wilshere told Telegraph Sport earlier this year that he accepts he failed to reach his full potential as a player but now wants to do so as a coach. His imminent appointment within Arsenal’s academy marks the first formal step on that journey, and it comes after he first sampled youth-team coaching at the club last season. Wilshere trained with Arsenal’s first-team last year and also worked with the academy players. He has said those experiences, and watching former team-mate Mikel Arteta, now Arsenal's manager, made him want to be a coach. The midfielder was regarded as one of the brightest talents of his generation after breaking into the Arsenal first-team as a teenager. His career was … [Read more...] about Jack Wilshere retires aged 30 to become Arsenal’s new Under-18s coach

The touch screen generation: Just HALF of six-year-olds get an hour of exercise each day — the minimum recommended amount
Half of six-year-olds in England do not get enough exercise each day, according to a study. Only 53 per cent do the 60 minutes of vigorous exercise recommended by the NHS for the age group — with girls doing less than boys. This can include playing in the park, games in PE at school and sports like football or tennis. Regular exercise is vital for strengthening muscles and bones during children's development and also in fighting off obesity. It comes amid a growing childhood obesity epidemic that means one in five youngsters in England are too fat by the time they start primary school. Childhood obesity reached 'unprecedented levels' during the Covid pandemic, with children sat at home and not able to run around in playgrounds. Primary school children saw their average screen time on tablets and phones boom during the pandemic. Researchers from the universities of Cambridge and Southampton found only 53 per cent of six-year-olds got an hour of exercise … [Read more...] about The touch screen generation: Just HALF of six-year-olds get an hour of exercise each day — the minimum recommended amount
