IT'S Movember and once again the time has come to grow a moustache and talk about men's health. Statistics show that fellas die on average FIVE years earlier than their female counterparts. And so experts at the Movember Foundation are asking why this might be? "To save lives men need to be in tune with their bodies and with their health," says Movember CEO Owen Sharp. "They need to know when not to worry, and when they should seek help." So today, Middlesbrough GP Dr Zak Uddin busts some of the biggest men's health myths so you know when it's time to get help. MYTH 1: Wearing a hat causes baldness "Baldness is in no way linked to your choice or attire," Dr Zak says. "But if this is the case you would lose all the hair on your body, including your eyebrows and pubic hair," he explains. Bumps after shaving pubic hair
LION mane eyebrows are our new favourite beauty trend. Why? Because they're so easy to pull off. Here's everything you need to know. What are lion mane eyebrows? Basically, they're a lazy girl's best friend. A less-tamed version of the classic bushy brow, the trend involves hairs being combed upwards to create a fuller effect. Some people have pointed out that it's a similar look to feathered brows, but there's one important difference. This time, the hair underneath the arch is left completely untouched. And instead of any strays being carefully plucked or waxed, they're left to grow naturally. This gives the effect of a fluffy lion's mane. Geddit? How do you get them? As this is a look for bushy eyebrows, those who've been plucking will have to wait for their hair to grow back. But in the meantime, you can fill them in. Brush your brows up with a spoolie brush - creating the "lion mane" effect - and then softly fill in any sparse areas with a pencil. Use thin dash-like strokes … [Read more...] about What are lion mane eyebrows, how do you get them and what’s the best way to style them?
KIM Kardashian is a true hair chameleon, switching up her 'do on an almost weekly basis. Her latest style is a chin-length bob - and we love it. This is how to copy the look, whatever your hair type. How can I pull off Kim Kardashian's bob if I have straight hair? Those with straight hair will be able to mimic Kim's bob most accurately. But according to celebrity stylist Riawna Capri, each face shape should ask for slightly different things from their hairdressers. Capri tells Self: "If you have a heart shape face, try a side part and a swept over fringe to make the forehead appear smaller. "If you have a round face, keep layers on the sides longer to elongate your face." For those with square faces, she recommends an off-centre parting and face framing layers beginning at the chin. She continues: "If you have very fine hair, I would recommend a chin-length bob with blunt ends. "If you have very thick hair, opt for a longer bob with layers to avoid the triangle effect that can happen … [Read more...] about How to pull off Kim Kardashian’s blunt bob and what are her most iconic hairstyle moments?
BEAUTY experts recommend shaving your legs one night and fake tanning another to avoid unsightly blotches. But if you don't want to wait until the next day (because who really has the time?) this is how you can shave and tan in one night - and avoid those nasty red dots... How can you shave your legs without getting bumps? Most of us don’t have the time to wait before tanning, and rely on the frantic swipe of the mitt before bed. This often means we are left with pesky brown dots when the product has settled into our freshly-shaven pores. Now, self-tanning guru James Read has revealed how to get rid of those annoying spots once and for all. He recommends grabbing a packet of frozen peas and running them down your legs before applying your St Tropez. He told Byrdie: “This will seal the pores in your legs, so you don’t end up with those annoying dots after self-tanning.” Why do you get red bumps after shaving? We previously revealed that leaving your razor in the … [Read more...] about How to shave your legs without getting red dots and bumps before you apply fake tan
Ditch your razor and cancel your wax appointment - because the full bush is back. Style bible Vogue has declared that a full bush is officially the new Brazilian - and if Vogue says it, we believe it. The surge in popularity of Brazilian and Hollywood waxes has meant a bare look down below has been on-trend for the past decade or so, but now the au naturale look has been resurrected from the 70s. The bush has been slowly making a comeback over the past few years, with celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Graham and Emma Watson advocating for pubic hair. Vogue spoke to New York–based holistic ob-gyn Dr. Eden Fromberg who said: "Women are becoming increasingly aware that our bodies are a lot more than the visual or sexual playthings. "We want to express our diversity and power, live our preferences, and feel comfortable in our own bodies without judgement." If you're thinking of transitioning from being smooth to your natural look, Vogue recommends a five step plan to keep your hair … [Read more...] about No more shaving, the full bush is back
