If you propose a high-rise public housing project in America, your opponents will almost certainly use Pruitt-Igoe as a rhetorical weapon against you – and defeat you with it. The Captain WO Pruitt Homes and William L Igoe Apartments, a racially segregated, middle-class complex of 33 11-storey towers, opened to great fanfare on the north side of St Louis between 1954 and 1956. But within a decade, it would become a decrepit warehouse exclusively inhabited by poor, black residents. Within two decades, it would undergo complete demolition. Whether you call Pruitt-Igoe’s short, troubled existence a failure of architecture, a failure of policy, or a failure of society, its fate remains bound up with, and reflective of, the fate of many American cities in the mid-20th century. An enormous dog had to be rescued along with it's owner after getting stuck up a mountain in Utah on Sunday night. A team from Salt Lake County Search and Rescue raced into action in bringing down the large male Mastiff which weighed 190-pounds. The three-year-old dog became trapped with it's owner after becoming injured along a trail. Officials rescued Floyd, a 190-pound, 3-year-old Mastiff, and his owner on a trail in Millcreek Canyon near Salt Lake City, Utah Several hikers called to report that the two were unable to move so rescuers headed up the mountain before the weather got too cold Rescue crews said the 190-pound, 3-year-old Male Mastiff got injured about 2 miles up the trail Several hikers ended up calling the police to report the dog was stuck and unable to move. This is the moment a bull terrier attacks children in a playground and mauls one of them on the ground before a teacher chases it away. The incident took place of the city of Nizhnevartovsk in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug in central Russia and was recorded by CCTV cameras.
