US President Donald Trump has once again turned to Twitter to defend his idea of building a wall on the border with Mexico. ….The only reason they do not want to build a Wall is that Walls Work! 99% of our illegal Border crossings will end, crime in our Country will go way down and we will save billions of dollars a year! A properly planned and constructed Wall will pay for itself many times a year! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) 6 января 2019 г. Donald Trump has stoked fresh hopes the United States’ trade war with China is nearing its end, following a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The United States President tweeted: “Just had a long and very good call with President Xi of China. Deal is moving along very well.” He added the trade deal would be “very comprehensive, covering all subjects, areas and points of dispute”. twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1079045134061371392"> The leaders of the world’s two biggest economies have been at loggerheads for much of 2018 economically, with each side taking it in turns to impose increasingly expensive tariffs on trade the other’s country. World markets have been shaken as the tariffs disrupted the flow of hundreds of billions of dollars worth of goods between the countries. But in December, a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel emerged, as Trump and Xi agreed a 90-day ceasefire on tariffs starting on 1 December as they … [Read more...] about Trump claims China trade deal on the cards after ‘long and very good’ phone call with Xi
Donald Trump was widely ridiculed earlier this week for suggesting that Spain emulate his $25bn dream for the US-Mexico border and “build a wall” across the Sahara desert. According to Spain’s foreign minister, Josep Borell, the US president told him: “The Sahara border can’t be bigger than our border with Mexico.” But Trump – and some of his critics – seems unaware that there is already a wall cordoning a corner of the Sahara: at 2,700km (1,700 miles) the Morocco Western Sahara wall, known as the Berm, is more than double the length of the US-Mexican border. It is made of sand, patrolled by more than 100,000 Moroccan soldiers, and was designed to keep independence-seeking Sahrawis in the eastern part of the desert – and and away from the region’s natural resources. Morocco has occupied its southern neighbour Western Sahara since 1975, when Spain, the colonial power, withdrew, and the north African country fought a 15-year war … [Read more...] about Build a wall across the Sahara? DONALD Trump reportedly stunned politicians by suggesting Europe builds an wall across the Sahara. But why did the US President allegedly hint at the potty plan? Here's all you need to know. Why did Trump tell Spain to build a wall across the Sahara? In September 2018, a Spanish politician claimed Trump suggested building an enormous wall across the Sahara to solve Europe’s migrant crisis. Spain's Foreign Minister Josep Borrell, a former President of the European Parliament, said Trump insisted his Mexican barrier idea would work for Europe as well. The respected Spanish politician did not reveal when the controversial US leader allegedly put forward his radical migration solution. But diplomatic sources suggested it was in June when he flew to the States in a trip coinciding with the visit to the White House of the Spanish King and Queen. Mr Borrell made the claims during a lunch in Madrid organised by prestigious cultural association Club Siglo XXI. Spanish daily … [Read more...] about Why did Trump tell Spain to build a wall across the Sahara and where did he tell Josep Borrell, Spain’s foreign minister it should go?
DONALD Trump suggested a building an enormous wall across the Sahara Desert to solve Europe’s migrant crisis, a Spanish politician has claimed. Spain's Foreign Minister Josep Borrell, a former President of the European Parliament, said Trump insisted his Mexican barrier idea would work for Europe as well. Such a wall would probably span about 3,200 miles and based on the costs of the proposed wall in Mexico cost around £85billion, involve 90,000 plus workers and take three-and-a-half years to build. But while these numbers are epic enough, constructing a wall would more likely face teething problems - not least shoring up its foundations in shifting sands.
