The brand has missed ambitious targets in the past but last week produced a total of 5,031 Model 3s – finally reaching its goal of 5,000 units per week by the end of the second quarter of 2018. That target was initially set for December 2017 but was pushed back twice – to the end of 2018’s first quarter and then its second quarter. “I think we just became a real car company,” said chief executive and founder Elon Musk in a leaked memo to staff. “Transporting entire production lines across the world in massive cargo planes. Whatever. It worked.” The brand’s tactics have met with some criticism, though. To meet targets, Tesla set up an assembly line in a … [Read more...] about Tesla now ‘a real car company’ after hitting Model 3 production targets

Elon Musk, a Colorado potter, and a farting unicorn walk into a bar, followed by a punchline about copyright infringement. The Tesla chief executive has been accused of using an image of a farting unicorn for commercial purposes without permission or compensation. The original image was first tweeted by Mr Musk last year and had previously been featured on a mug made by 61-year-old Colorado potter Tom Edwards, who has been making unicorn-themed ceramics since 2010. Similar images of farting unicorns have been used for Tesla's in-vehicle interfaces and promotional material, although Mr Edwards was only alerted to the potential infringement after his friend purchased a Tesla car and found a similar farting unicorn in use. A two-month-old baby was trapped in a Tesla car in Zurich for over an hour on Tuesday after he was accidentally locked in the vehicle by his mother. The baby boy was locked in after his mother parked the electric car in an underground garage. She and her friend got out of the vehicle and then closed the front doors. However, when they tried to remove the sleeping baby from the back seat, they realised all the doors were now locked and the car key was still inside, Zurich police said in a statement. According to Swiss daily Blick, the woman was also unable to get through to the Tesla support hotline on the phone. The mother of the child enlisted the help of the building caretaker and the pair spent an hour trying to break … [Read more...] about Zurich police rescue two-month-old baby from Tesla
A Tesla shareholder, Richard Tornetta, has gone against the company’s CEO and chairman, Elon Musk, demanding that he be stripped of his newly approved compensation package, valued at between $2.6 billion to $70 billion, depending on whether Tesla’s quick growth continues, according to Morgan Stanley predictions. He accuses the multibillionaire of unfair enrichment and has proclaimed that his goal is to protect investors. The lawsuit also claims that the board, which approved the reward this March despite recommendation from consulting firms, should be overhauled. Tesla’s management claims that the complaint “seeks to take the power from our shareholders and instead give it to plaintiffs lawyers. We will respond accordingly.” The company also pointed out that Musk gets the unprecedented compensation package only if Tesla’s market value doubles and keeps rising. Musk has to start … [Read more...] about Shareholder Challenges Musk’s Multi-Billion-Dollar Package From Tesla in Court
ELON MUSK has tweeted that he's building a cyborg dragon, whatever that means. The Tesla and SpaceX chief offered no explanation about the barmy invention. Let's pause for a second and break that down literally: a cyborg is a being with organic and mechanical body parts, and a dragon is a mythical animal usually portrayed as a scaly, fire-breathing serpent. Definitions aside, we're still no closer to getting to the bottom of this blunt, but also strangely cryptic, tweet. Musk has played with fire before, building a Boring flamethrower (which takes its name from the droll title of his tunnel-drilling firm) and flogging it for £355. All 20,000 units of the insane (and wholly irresponsible) tool were snapped in just four days. Oh btw I’m building a cyborg dragon— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) April 25, 2018 He's also taken to Twitter to unveil Boring hats and Tesla tequila – so is this cyborg dragon just the latest in a line of Musk merch? And will it be available to the … [Read more...] about Elon Musk says he’s building a ‘cyborg dragon’ – should we be worried?
