Diane Abbott made the unfounded claim that Boris Johnson is 'rumoured to like assaulting women' and accused him of hypocrisy while responding to a question about allegations surrounding Deputy Chief Whip Chris Pincher. Appearing on BBC Radio 4's Broadcasting House, The Labour MP made the statement about the Prime Minister while discussing reports that Mr Pincher groped two men in a London club. When asked if a man sexually assaulting a woman would have been treated differently from Mr Pincher allegedly groping two men, the former shadow home secretary said 'It might be treated differently'. However she continued on and levelled an unsubstantiated allegation at the Prime Minister. An ex BBC presenter has hit out at the broadcaster with claims she was bullied and sacked minutes after going live on air by a senior member of staff. Sue Sweeney worked for the BBC for more than 20 years and hosted BBC Newcastle before her sudden exit in February 2019, feeling the channel wanted to "go younger". Now, Sue has spoken out against the BBC after it was announced on Friday that Steve Wright's show has been axed after more than 24 years on Radio 2. The BBC is to scrutinise the impartiality of Countryfile as part of a review into editorial standards. The BBC One show has been at the centre of impartiality rows over farming, fox hunting and environmental issues. In its review, to be conducted in-house, the corporation will assess the programme’s impartiality , freedom of expression, diversity of voices, accuracy, fairness and trust. BBC Breakfast News and morning radio news programmes will also be subject to review at the same time. The BBC said other programmes would follow and insisted that Countryfile had not been selected “because of particular impartiality concerns”. However, sources acknowledged that it was a show which regularly prompted complaints. “Countryfile has to deal with some contentious issues that bring out differing views. The BBC has revealed that it received six complaints against DJ Tim Westwood - one of which was referred to police - despite earlier claims it had seen "no evidence of complaints" from the former Radio 1 presenter's time at the corporation. In April, seven women accused Westwood of sexual misconduct between 1992 and 2017, following a joint investigation by The Guardian and the BBC . Their stories were told in the BBC Three documentary, Tim Westwood: Abuse of Power. Three of the women accused Westwood of opportunistic and predatory sexual behaviour, while four others claim they were groped by him at events. All the women were black, and worked in the music industry. At the time, Director general Tim Davie said that while the allegations made against the DJ were "shocking" and the claims made by the women were "powerful and appalling", he had seen "no evidence of complaints" from the DJ's time at the corporation. The BBC has received six complaints against Tim Westwood over allegations of bullying or sexual misconduct. It was revealed in April of this year that multiple Black women had come forward with accusations against the former Radio 1 DJ. At the time, Director general Tim Davie said that ‘no evidence of complaints’ had been found – but the broadcaster has now confirmed that one complaint against the 64-year-old had been referred to the police. ‘This is a historic case that the BBC has found in its files. A new documentary about DJ Tim Westwood sees him accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women, in allegations revealed today. On Tuesday, it emerged the 64-year-old is to be accused of predatory and unwanted sexual behaviour and touching , in incidents between 1992 and 2017, in a new BBC documentary. The DJ is a household name in the UK and hosted music shows on BBC radio stations for over 20 years before moving to Capital FM. Around 10 channels are set to be cut from Freeview this week as viewers are told to retune their TV to keep some other channels. Freeview users will lose popular channels BBC Four HD, CBeebies HD and Together TV unless they perform a system update. Freeview is being hit by the changes due to a broadcast signal – named COM7 Multiplex – being closed down to make way for the latest 5G mobile technology from EE. This means there’s less bandwidth to use, so Freeview has been forced to make changes.
