The R&B singer will released her as-yet-untitled fourth studio album before the end of the year and revealed it will be a departure from her previous work. In an interview with The New York Times, Solange, the younger sister of Beyonce, said the record has “a lot of jazz at the core”, but also contains “electronic and hip-hop drum and bass because I want it to bang and make your trunk rattle”. The 32-year-old’s most recent effort, 2016’s A Seat At The Table, was a critical and commercial success but she admitted to feeling anxious ahead of releasing fresh material. Eddi Reader headlines the Pavilion Theatre in Worthing on October 22 on the back of her new album Cavalier. Featuring 16 songs, including recently-performed live favourites Wonderful, My Favourite Dress, Starlight and Maiden’s Lament, the new album was recorded and produced in Glasgow by Eddi and by John Douglas – just under an hour of new music incorporating both contemporary and traditional songs.Speaking just before its release, Eddi said: “I am in that moment of anticipation. Musician and entertainer Holland and Soft Cell frontman Almond, whose album A Lovely Life To Live will drop in November, said the project is a long time coming after performing together on and off for 12 years. The 14-track record, recorded with Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, will include both new songs penned by the duo as well as their big band interpretation on well-known songs, including a reworking of Soft Cell hit Tainted Love. A new trio of songs – I Lost My City, Workhouse Blues and London You Were My Lover – are based on the duo’s love for the capital.
