A day nursery in Bourne is to be made out of shipping containers.Sisters Laura Cuthbertson and Ruth Lister manage the Busy Bees Pre-School in Manor Lane, which was launched by their mum Catherine Taylor 30 years ago.The business has grown, leading them to find a 14,400m2 site with bungalow on Meadow Drove for it.Busy Bees has now received planning approval from South Kesteven District Council to build new premises at the back of the bungalow.The 500m2 premises will be made from shipping containers, converted in Milton Keynes and transported and bolted together at the Bourne site.They would feature timber cladding and windows to create a ‘warm and in-keeping’ look, said the application.The building would cater for up to 110 children, employ 25 people, and be open 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.A council report said the new pre-school would not harm the character of the area. Staff at a Ketton day nursery have been praised by inspectors for being ‘warm and friendly’ and providing a ‘very welcoming and stimulating’ environment for children.The praise came from inspectors Ofsted, which awarded the Keepers Cottage Day Nursery an across-the-board ‘good’ rating.The nursery on North Luffenham Road, received the rating on matters as diverse as the quality and standards of its provision, its leadership and management, teaching and learning, personal development and outcomes for children.Ofsted also said the quality of the teaching is ‘strong.’Their report said: “Children make good progress from their starting points, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities.”Children also settled in quickly at the nursery and show they are happy and enjoy being there. Becky Thompson, nursery manager, and Andrea Dyson, business manager, have completed the buyout of the Totspot Day Nursery.
