Philip Hammond today threatened three more years of austerity if MPs block Theresa May ’s Brexit deal. He said the government would make an extra £100 million available to police forces to spend on overtime for officers fighting knife crime. And he committed to making free sanitary products available to all secondary school girls from the next school year. Theresa May's threat to hurl Britain into a No Deal Brexit was brutally punctured today by one of her biggest allies. Jeremy Corbyn will today accuse Boris Johnson of plotting a Donald Trump-style Brexit as the Labour leader rolls the pitch in preparation for an early general election. Mr Corbyn will claim the Tories have undergone a 'lurch to the hard right' under their new leader and argue Mr Johnson is 'driving the country towards a No Deal cliff edge' in a speech widely seen as an attempt to set the tone ahead of a potential snap poll this winter. There is increasing speculation in Westminster that Mr Johnson could go to the country within the next three months and senior Tories have today urged him to pull the trigger sooner rather than later to sink Remainer attempts to oust him.
