Ant Middleton brands Channel 4 ‘desperate’ over firing – despite claiming he quit

· March 3, 2021 ·

Ant Middleton has hit out at Channel 4 for firing him from SAS: Who Dares Wins, branding them "desperate and reckless" - despite also claiming that he had decided to quit anyway. Appearing on Good Morning Britain, the ex-Special Forces soldier went on to complain about the "PC patrol and woke patrol" kicking in but admitted to "butting heads" with crew on set. It comes after the Mirror told how female members of crew raised concerns with makers Minnow Films and Channel 4 during an end of year review where they were allowed to speak anonymously. However, a spokesman for Middleton has refuted the allegations, claiming that he is "always disciplined and utterly professional". Middleton told Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid: "It's all smoke and mirrors - from the last episode of SAS: Who Dares Wins when I filmed the last episode, it became a half-scripted reality show. Full control was taken from me - from health and safety to production. After that I said, 'I'm not going to film … [Read more...] about Ant Middleton brands Channel 4 ‘desperate’ over firing – despite claiming he quit

Budget 2021: The post-Brexit freeports at the centre of Sunak’s speech

· March 3, 2021 ·

It has become something of a tradition that a chancellor pulls a "rabbit out of the hat" - a measure to surprise and delight - towards the end of a budget speech. Those viewing the 56-minute statement had, after all, heard many of the main announcements before through a flood of leaks from the Treasury in advance of Rishi Sunak's update to the Commons. Please use Chrome browser for a more accessible video player The headlines of the hour-long Budget speech from the Chancellor. Here, we will explain what freeports are but first reveal the successful applicants, as outlined by the chancellor, following a bid process that launched last October. Where will these freeports be? Man Utd and Tottenham WILL have home advantage for Europa League ties as Uefa give them green light to host second-legs

· February 16, 2021 ·

TOTTENHAM and Manchester United have got the green light from Uefa to play next week’s Europa League last-32 second legs on home soil. But Tottenham ’s Austrian opponent Wolfsberger will have to make an indirect flight both ways to avoid quarantining when they return home. Jose Mourinho ’s men will play the first leg in Budapest on Thursday after quarantine-free travel into Austria from the UK was banned. Similar restrictions mean United ’s first leg against Real Sociedad will be played in Turin rather than in the Basque country. But unlike Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side, Spurs and United will be able to host next week’s matches. The Gunners will play both legs against Portuguese giants Benfica on neutral soil - in Rome and then Piraeus. Spurs' opponents Wolfsberger, though, will have to travel to London via Slovenia, to get round Austrian restrictions. And while there are quarantine rules for travel between the UK and Spain, because Sociedad will have spent … [Read more...] about Man Utd and Tottenham WILL have home advantage for Europa League ties as Uefa give them green light to host second-legs
