It has announced a €65m capital investment programme for 2019 to expand laboratories and manufacturing campuses in Westport, Co Mayo and at Clonshaugh, Co Dublin. The move will take total employment in Ireland to more than 2,000. One in 10 of Allergan's global workforce is based in Ireland. Allergan's Westport campus is the company's largest and most complex and includes a pharmaceuticals facility, two biologics plants and an ocular implant facility. It produces the global supply of Botox as well as manufacturing medicines and eye care products. Paul Coffey, vice president and plant general manager at Allergan Westport, said the latest investment cements Ireland's strategic role in Allergan's global network. SUPERDRUG is set to roll out Botox and lip fillers in another one of its stores - despite experts claiming the anti-ageing injects can cause "serious infection or paralysis" in some cases. The shop announced yesterday the cosmetic procedures will be available in its Manchester Piccadilly branch. It's currently only available at its London flagship unit, where it launched last August. The health and beauty retailer came under fire after it announced its new Skin Renew Service, which offers customers anti-wrinkle and rejuvenation treatments including Botox and dermal fillers. Superdrug will only be offering the service to those over 25 who have booked through their customer care line, not to people who walk in from the high street. It will cost £99 for Botox and between £125 and £349 for fillers. Staff at some providers will be trained to spot conditions such as body dysmorphic disorder, which causes people to obsess over perceived flaws in their appearance, and refer customers to NHS services when necessary. The Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners agreed to introduce new rules for its members following a meeting with NHS England. Firms will be expected to refuse treatment and refer customers to NHS services, under rules adopted by trade body The Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners. NHS national medical director Prof Stephen Powis welcomed the move. But he admitted many providers are not members of the council.
