This first part of the project was partially supported by a crowdfunding campaign. Workers and visitors travelling to and from Royal Derby Hospital could be given a boost as a shuttle bus service is due to be set up from Mackworth. NHS bosses have taken to Facebook to post about the new service, which is due to start next month, after a need had been identified by Sparrow, a bus operating service. The aim is to get bus users to the destination efficiently. However, some in Mackworth have criticised the plans as they believe it will turn the area into an NHS car park and they are calling on health chiefs to rethink the proposals. A statement on the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust Facebook page reads: "A new direct shuttle bus service between the Royal Derby Hospital and Mackworth will begin operating at the start of next month. "The new service will be trialled by transport operator Sparrow from Monday, September 3. "It will run from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 6am and 10am, as well as 3pm to 7pm.
