John Bacon USA TODAY Published 9:30 AM EDT Mar 14, 2019 The flight data and cockpit voice recorders from doomed Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 arrived in Paris on Thursday where French aviation authorities were tasked with probing the black boxes for clues to the tragedy. France’s Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety said there was no immediate information on the condition of the recorders. Preliminary information could take several days to extract, an agency spokesman told Reuters. Sunday's crash, which killed all 157 aboard, was the second crash of a Boeing 737 Max 8 in five months. In October, Lion Air Flight 610 crashed in the Java Sea 12 minutes after takeoff from Jakarta, Indonesia. All 189 people aboard perished. Boeing 737 MAX 8 pilots reported their planes nosedived and lost altitude in at least two incidents before the current safety scandal that has seen the aircraft grounded across the world. As Boeing deals with the fallout of its Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes being banned around the world following two deadly crashes, reports of the aircrafts nosediving have been revealed while other reports cite safety concerns. Pilots on at least two US flights reported their aircrafts nosedived and lost altitude quickly when using autopilot mode on the 737 MAX 8 in the last few months, according to pilot reports compiled in the Aviation Safety Reporting System database administered by NASA. The data shows there were 11 reports about the Boeing 737 MAX 8 logged between April 2018 and December 2018, USA Today reports. BOEING’S 737 Max 8 aircraft was thrust into the spotlight after an Ethiopian Airlines flight crashed on Sunday just six minutes after takeoff. Now the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued orders on March 14 for all the planes to be grounded. The decision sparked huge delays in airports across the world. American and Southwest Airlines immediately cancelled a number of flights after Donald Trump made the … [Read more...] about What is a Boeing 737 Max 8 airplane, when was the Ethiopia crash and who were the victims?
U.S. President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that his administration had grounded the Boeing 737 Max 8 planes involved in two catastrophic crashes, hours after the United States became the last country to do so, USA Today reports. "Those planes are grounded effective immediately," Trump told reporters at the White House. "The safety of the American people, of all people, is our paramount concern." The United States was the last holdout on grounding the aircraft after Canada on Wednesday joined a growing list of nations that included China, Britain, France and Germany to make the call following an Ethiopian Airlines crash on Sunday that killed 157 people. The Federal Aviation Administration previously stood by the safety of the plane, saying it hadn't found any issues to merit a grounding order. In a statement issued after Trump's remarks, the FAA said the administration was reversing course based on "the data gathering process and new evidence collected at the site." Trump, who … [Read more...] about Trump issues order to ground Boeing 737 Max 8 after crashes
