ONE woman has shared how she was dress coded at her job, which has no official dress policy. Abigayle Canterbury says she quit her job after it became apparent she was being held to different standards than her fellow employees, who were seemingly all still allowed to wear crop tops. Posting to her TikTok account, @abigaylecanterbury , alleges that she was being dress coded, not because her outfit was inappropriate, but actually because she’s plus size and was bigger than the other people she worked with. “I got dress-coded at this job that does not have a dress code,” says Abigayle, adding that she was the only plus-size woman working at the smoke and vape shop. “I’ve never gone into one of the locations and seen a bigger girl working, it’s always been very small, petite girls and they’ve always worn whatever they’ve wanted.” Abigayle continues, saying that when she first got this job that was something that particularly excited her about it. Before, in our pre-pandemic lives, a colleague could ask a question such as ‘have you emailed so-and-so?’, over a desk, as part of an ongoing dialogue. You could then have either answered, ‘yeah’, or ‘not … [Read more...] about Why communicating over Slack has got us all using language we’d never use in real life

Psychiatry and the War
by BRIG. GEN. WILLIAM C. MENNINGER, USA MILITARY psychiatry differs from civilian psychiatry in that the Army must be totally responsible for a man — not only for his food and clothing, but especially for his ability to participate in his particular mission. Since there is a human tendency to retreat into illness under stress, it was not surprising to find that many men became ill when they were unable to meet the demands of the new life. Military psychiatry differs also in quality from civilian psychiatry. In the Army much more effort and time are invested in a preventive psychiatryan attempt to keep men healthy and to seek out causes for poor morale. Until comparatively recently, the majority of civilian psychiatric patients had to be brought to the psychiatrist by relatives, … [Read more...] about Psychiatry and the War
