October 16, 2020 by www.dailywire.com

Music mogul Diddy endorsed Democratic nominee Joe Biden for president while announcing his new “Our Black Party.” In a lengthy Twitter thread posted on Friday, the rapper said that black people need to help get Trump out of office and then hold Biden’s feet to the fire. “The NUMBER ONE priority is to get Trump out of office. HE HAS TO GO. We can’t allow this man to continue to try and DIVIDE US,” said Diddy. “The people that have the most responsibility and should be SCARED TO DEATH of this man are white people. WE ARE ON THE VERGE OF A RACE WAR.” “Things have got too serious. It would be irresponsible of me to have us hold our vote hostage,” he continued. “But it would also be irresponsible of me to let this moment go by and not make sure going forward we are doing what it takes to own our politics.” Things have got too serious. Putin prolonging war “worst thing” imaginable for U.S. economy: Expert

June 30, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

Art Laffer, a former economic adviser in Ronald Reagan's presidential administration, told Newsweek that the ongoing war in Ukraine is having a deleterious effect on the U.S. economy. Russian President Vladimir Putin has shifted his strategy in Ukraine to a war of attrition, and he's reportedly prepared to continue the war for months. On Wednesday, he told reporters he wouldn't put timelines on ending the war and that he's committed to the goal of liberating parts of Ukraine and reducing what he perceives as threats to Russia. President Joe Biden has acknowledged Americans are feeling the effects of the war in Russia, and Laffer told Newsweek the conflict being stretched out could have a massive economic impact in the U.S. "It's going to be a long, long, drawn-out land war in Europe, and that's the worst thing for anything we can imagine," he said. "It's very bad for the economy to have a land war in Europe. Wars are not good for the country—period—and allowing this land … [Read more...] about Putin prolonging war “worst thing” imaginable for U.S. economy: Expert

The Proud Boys are now a terrorist organisation in New Zealand. Here’s why it matters

June 30, 2022 by www.stuff.co.nz

ROBERT KITCHIN/STUFF Police minister Chris Hipkins addresses Proud Boys decision The Proud Boys, a fascist organisation in the US, has been designated a terrorist organisation under New Zealand law. The Government says the group poses a “significant threat” to New Zealand, despite there being no evidence of a connection to the country. Why it matters The Proud Boys were designated a terrorist group alongside The Base, another US-based organisation that has plotted violence to spark a “race war”. It’s the first time far-right or white supremacist organisations have been deemed terrorist entities by the Government, which has previously used the law for Islamic extremists, Irish and South American nationalists, and the Christchurch mosque terrorist. The Proud Boys are described as a violent, fascist organisation by the Government. The police have published a lengthy document detailing why the Proud Boys have been designated a terrorist organisation . … [Read more...] about The Proud Boys are now a terrorist organisation in New Zealand. Government rules out extra abortion rights protections after Roe v Wade decision

June 29, 2022 by metro.co.uk

Dominic Raab has ruled out creating a new layer of protection for abortion rights in the UK. The deputy prime minister and justice secretary said he would not add a proposed amendment to the legislation he is pushing through the Commons. Some MPs have called for a change enshrining the right to choose following the overturning of Roe v Wade in the US. Labour ’s Stella Creasy said she would formally table the amendment to the British Bill of Rights. Mr Raab was asked about the move by another Labour MP, Rosie Duffield, when he stood in for Boris Johnson at Prime Minister’s Question. He said: ‘The position, as she knows, is settled in UK law in relation to abortion. ‘It’s decided by honourable members across this House. It’s an issue of conscience. I don’t think there is a strong case for change. ‘What I wouldn’t want to do is find ourselves, with the greatest of respect, in the US position where this is being litigated through the courts rather than settled as … [Read more...] about Government rules out extra abortion rights protections after Roe v Wade decision

Melania Trump said ‘no’ to sending tweet to calm January 6 Capitol rioters, ex-aide’s text shows

June 29, 2022 by metro.co.uk

Former First Lady Melania Trump apparently refused her then-chief of staff’s suggestion that she send a tweet condemning lawlessness and violence in the January 6 Capitol riot. On Tuesday, shortly after the sixth public hearing by the House Select Committee investigating the insurrection, Trump’s former aide Stephanie Grisham shared a screenshot of a text exchange allegedly with her. Grisham’s screenshot shows she texted to Trump: ‘Do you want to tweet that peaceful protests are the right of every American, but there is no place for lawlessness & violence?’ Trump, named ‘MT’ in the screenshot, answered with one word: ‘No.’ In response to a Twitter user who said it was ‘infuriating’ that Grisham was ‘just now sharing stuff’ and could’ve done so during Donald Trump’s impeachment hearings, Grisham wrote that the texts were on January 6, 2021, and that ‘I resigned immediately after’. She added that she has spoken about the matter ‘many times before’, testified … [Read more...] about Melania Trump said ‘no’ to sending tweet to calm January 6 Capitol rioters, ex-aide’s text shows

How desperate are you to cut a deal with Iran, Mr. Biden? | Opinion

June 30, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

Here is what happens when a country cedes control of its foreign policy. The 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was a bad deal. The Iranians cheated on the baseline, the commitment, and the execution, and then President Donald Trump walked away. Approve of any given decision or not, the president controlled the action of the United States. Now however, looking for a way to reconstruct the deal, the Biden administration has outsourced American policy. First, President Joe Biden agreed to Iran's demand that the U.S. not be in the negotiating room in Vienna, but be represented by intermediaries—including China and Russia. Then, Washington gave theoretical agreement to Iran's demand that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) be removed from the U.S. designated terror organization list. After strong bipartisan objection in Congress—owing to the fact that the IRGC is responsible for hundreds of American military deaths—Mr. Biden appears to have told Israeli … [Read more...] about How desperate are you to cut a deal with Iran, Mr. Biden? | Opinion

How France and the U.S. Parted Ways on Abortion

June 30, 2022 by www.theatlantic.com

When the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last week, a quote attributed to Simone de Beauvoir quickly circulated on French social media. “Never forget that all it takes is a political, economic or religious crisis for women’s rights to be called into question,” it said. “These rights are never fully acquired. You must remain vigilant your whole life.” The French are feeling vigilant in part because, historically, they moved in near-lockstep with the U.S. on abortion and related reproductive rights. In 1965, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a landmark ruling granting married couples access to birth-control medication; France authorized free access to the pill, for anyone, two years later. The U.S. Supreme Court issued its ruling on Roe in 1973; two years later, France decriminalized abortion by passing what became known as the loi Veil , after Simone Veil, the celebrated postwar politician who, as health minister, spearheaded the effort to enact the legislation. … [Read more...] about How France and the U.S. Parted Ways on Abortion
