Broadband customers using the largest providers are the most likely to be getting a bad deal, a new survey has revealed. Despite collectively supplying almost nine in 10 customers, BT, Sky, Talktalk and Virgin Media consistently rank poorly for customer satisfaction, according to consumer group Which. Despite its reputation for cheap tariffs, Talktalk was slammed for the quality of its customer service and tech support. Sky scored slightly higher than Talktalk in most categories, but more than two-thirds of Sky customers surveyed said they were likely to switch provider. It’s hoped a new video and community workshops highlighting the benefits of faster broadband speeds will encourage more people in Rutland to check if they’re able to upgrade.Presented by independent broadband expert Rob Kirwan, and produced by the Digital Rutland partnership between Rutland County Council and Openreach, the short film features local residents and business owners who’ve already upgraded to a superfast broadband connection, and encourages others to do the same.The film can be viewed online at www.rutland.gov.uk/digitalrutland and was part-funded by UK government.More than 96 per cent of homes and businesses in Rutland can already upgrade, and more than six out of ten – the highest in the country - have already done so. Four top tips have been provided for West Sussex broadband customers who are unhappy with the speed their are getting. It is official, Nottinghamshire is amongst the best places in the country for speed and access to superfast broadband, writes Coun Kay Cutts. And this has not come about by accident. Millions of us could save money - and get faster broadband - says Ofcom. The communications regulator has launched a new website that makes it simple to find out if you can get more bandwidth for less money. New figures revealed by Ofcom Half of South West households could switch to faster broadband today. Official data from Ofcom shows 86% of homes and offices in the South West can now get superfast broadband, but only around half of those have taken it up. And many people are paying more than they need to. Around four million UK households with old-style, basic broadband have passed their initial deal and could switch to superfast for the same – or less – money than they currently pay.
