A filmmaker at Burton and South Derbyshire College claimed the top prize at Marston's first ever national film festival following thousands of votes submitted by Burton Mail readers. Readers voted in an online poll on the Burton Mail website in the Marston's Beer Town Film Festival and named Jack Hale as their winner for his film Time and Time Again about an intrepid scientist who builds a time machine to return to the past and save his wife. As a second-year student at the college, Jack had been involved in shooting some of the launch footage in September last year. He said: “I put a post on Facebook asking friends to vote for me and the shares and likes went crazy! I am very proud to have been involved.” Jack is joined by Nottingham-based filmmaker Matt Daunt who has been awarded the first ever Hop D'Or at the festival finale. By Laman Ismayilova "Pomegranate Orchard" movie by national film-maker Ilgar Najaf has won Best Feature Film Grand Jury Prize Bridging the Borders Award at South East European Film Festival. From April 26 through May 3, the film festival brought world premieres, European talent and an Industry Accelerator with seminars, panels and 1-on-1 meetings to Los Angeles. Launched three years ago, the SEEfest Accelerator platform is an industry section of the festival, structured as a series of sessions with small group of filmmakers and 1-on-1 meetings with Hollywood professionals. "Pomegranate Orchard" features a story about an old man, who lives along with his grandson and daughter-in-law in the decrepit house amidst of the huge pomegranate garden. ANKARA The 19th Ankara International Film Festival kicked off with a ceremony at the MEB Şura Hall on April 19. At the opening ceremony, the honorary awards of the festival, organized by the World Mass Media Research Foundation, were presented to veteran actors Menderes Samancılar and Rüştü Asyalı and the Sinecine Research Magazine. Nearly 190 films will be screened at this year’s festival. “National Feature,” “National Documentary” and “National Short Film” competitions will be organized as part of the festival. Rachel, 20 was born December 21, 1987 in Stoke-on-Trent. She is an English actress who has appeared in a number of British television series and films.
